Re: True Healer
Yes, having allies die in the final battle will cause you to fail the challenge. I found myself really wishing you could use Divine Heal on allies for this reason.

Re: ESCHALON TRILOGY - Q&A (SPOILERS)
While I'm not trying to argue, and in fact, completely agree with your point, I thought I'd post this. Unfortunately, it's not possible in Book III. Knowing that you don't actually need the Crux of Terra, I don't know how many kills are necessary. Right not the only ones I can think of are in the f...

Re: ESCHALON TRILOGY - Q&A (SPOILERS)
I could have forget many elements but I don't see where are the two evil+good sides. Who is torturing? Only Malkur. Who is murdering? Only Malkur. Who is creating invading wars? Only Malkur. I don't see any ambiguity there's only one side using rather evil tools. Actually, a lot depends on how you ...

Re: Dodge OP skill?
If you invest 30 points in a skill you should expect nice results. You could have invest 30 points in Elemental magic and be teleporting all over the world, rendering yourself invisible at will, and laying waste to all around you with supernovas and ice lances. If you split those 30 points between h...

Re: ESCHALON TRILOGY - Q&A (SPOILERS)
One thing I wondered is why Malkur gives up in the end if you side against him and win the final battle. Assuming for the moment that this isn't a mage-games type contest between Eurbor and Malkur, both sides need all four crux to accomplish their task, and Malkur still has two of them. If he had sl...

Re: Need Help with Concussion
I also found that potions of cure ailment didn't cure my character of a concussion, but in the documentation it says they should, so I think it's a bug. Luckily I wasn't playing as an atheist that time.

Re: the grind is wearing me down
I seem to remember reading/hearing somewhere that in ancient history where most soldiers were using bronze weapons that the weapons were generally good for one battle and then needed to be replaced. Also, since you have no chance of missing a barrel, I find that switching to power mode with a 1-2 da...

Re: Book II Game Rules: Hit or Miss?
I used all the rules for the extra realism, though I certiantly wasn't upset about the xp/loot bonus. I like this approach much better than the standard difficulty levels, which I find can sometimes lead to ridiculous situations (ie. a rat having 4 times as many hit points as you). Another optional ...

Build Advice (Thief/Mage)
I'm just starting out book 2 (had to wait for the mac release), and I'm looking to play a hybrid mage/thief this time around. I played a ranger/alchemist in book 1 and had a blast with him, but I'm looking to do something new this time. After a little bit of experimentation in the demo, this is what...

Re: * BOOK II COMBAT OPTIONS *
One aspect that would not make a lot of sense is parrying with a bow. Not sure what to do in this situation, but we'll come up with something. What if it it became a "dodge" ability that worked in a similar manner against ranged attacks? Being an experienced bowman making it easier to jud...

Re: Things you'd like to see in Book II User's Manual
I'd like to echo the general sentiment about going into the background, history, etc. of the regions (or at least, things that would be common knowledge to someone living in that world). I'm less enthusiastic about NPC info though, rather learn that sort of thing during gameplay. Also, I'd rather no...

Re: Book II Questions Thread
In book I, it seemed like chosing which weapon type to train in was almost trivial - the only in-game consequence I could discern was some weapon groups have unique/higher level weapons avaliable earlier in the game than others. In Book II, will there be any more distinction between the different we...

Once you have the permit, you want to head north and slightly east of New Harston. You'll know you've found the right path when you meet someone who urgently offers to help you get further.

Re: Spiderweb Games
I have very fond memories of Avernum 2 & 3, but found 4 to be disappointing and 5 hasn't captivated my interest enough to get me to play through it. I'm not sure if this is because 2 & 3 were just better or if its because I'm older now. Avernum 4 and 5 had some really interesting points to t...
