Re: Ubuntu 8.10 with Intel graphics game doesn't start...

I did a quick search and it SEEMS that the patent has been filed in 2001, probably I mistook it for another one but maybe it is the one that's embedded in intel's drivers. Since patents are kept alive for 8 years on average, more for drugs less for technological stuff, if we are lucky 2009 will be t...

Re: Ubuntu 8.10 with Intel graphics game doesn't start...

Today i sent an email to the developers at hothead games because also the demo of their games doesn't work on my pc. That's part of the answer: I'm afraid it's a known issue. Intel's current linux drivers do not support the texture compression which the game needs. Basically, unlike nVidia and ATI, ...

Re: Ubuntu 8.10 with Intel graphics game doesn't start...

Probably part of it it's because I was running it from a usb-pen live, probably it's because I only have 1g of ram and a weak 945 video card. To be honest, I'm not sure that running off a flash drive should be any slower, as long as it's a decent USB 2.0 drive plugged directly into an appropriate p...

Re: Ubuntu 8.10 with Intel graphics game doesn't start...

Looks like the Ubuntu developers DO care about commercial games and graphics performances after all, go take a look at the response I had on the bug page. I'm already downloading the daily build, let's see if it works... No...Freakin...Way! So how did it work? (I've been kinda lame... my Ubuntu mac...

Re: Ubuntu 8.10 with Intel graphics game doesn't start...

I've had identical problems on my T60 with the Intel graphics card. Incidentally I have a T61p with a different video subsystem altogether and it works just fine. I'm afraid it's all in the Intel video driver. Post on the Ubuntu forums...if enough people complain to Ubuntu maybe someone at Intel wi...

Re: Problem launching Eschalon

My graphic card is an Intel 945 running Ubuntu 8.10 (2.6.27 kernel), the crash is absolutely the same as I've said in this post http://basiliskgames.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2080&start=0 . Here's my output: USER@USER-laptop:~$ sudo lshw -C display *-display:0 UNCLAIMED description: VG...

Re: Do you want loot/pick lock/disable trap to be changed ?

I am going to put a good two cents worth in this. LEAVE IT ALONE IT AIN'T BROKE The first time through the game I played it straight and accepted what showed up, well what I ended up with was a great big load of crap, very few nice items were to be found if there was anything in the barrel or chest...

Re: Copy Protected Software

Look here, just what I suggested:
http://www.linuxgamepublishing.com/pres ... 806241.txt
and they promise to release patches if they go out of business, that is a nice promise, let's hope they maintain it.

I think Basilisk should do something like that.

Do you want loot/pick lock/disable trap to be changed ?

Time for a poll !!! I want to know if you think the way Eschalon book I treats pick locks/disable traps/open chest is flawed or not. I want to know if you like saving before each of these action and reloading when you don't like the result, or, if you want this to change in a more restrictive/expans...

Re: Book II design question

How does that affect how you play your character, unless you give in to the temptation to re-roll. Do not re-roll and there is no problem or concern. If you are playing a thief, put your skills points into lock picking and skullduggery, because that how you want to play it. Do not re-roll!! That ma...
