Re: How many times have you finished Book III?

I blame the very little re-playability since the game is so short. Dont get me wrong, I like the sleek design, I really do not see the point of more grinding and exploration that waste your time indefinitely so in the end you never even bother to finish, like Avadon and FFX-2. Its just that its to ...

Re: Fans of Basilisk Games: What's Next?

Congratulations on finding a way to survive lower sales. It actually wasn't "lower sales" - as BW made clear, it was lower revenue that was the problem, not lower sales... My takeaway from this is that I hope the Eschalon series doesn't get "memory-holed" - for example, if someb...

Re: Book II Mod: Return to Bastion Spire

Sorry, I'm probably thick, but... what does the following mean:
MyGameCompany wrote:Note: if you want to use an existing character, you can skip step 2, but it will reset the 2 official maps listed above.
What do you mean "...but it will reset the 2 official maps listed above."?
TIA.

Re: Book II Mod: Return to Bastion Spire

I wonder if I can have a hint about access to the 3 rooms in Humfrey's place? I found one of the three destinations, entered the correct code, but the destination door remains closed. Do I have to traipse back to the magician's tower? Many thanks in advance for hints - outright spoilers are fine, t...

Re: Any chance of an official expansion?

Regarding the original question, there are several nice Book III mods that extend the gameplay a bit. Besides the two that I made, there are the Rockhammer Small Dungeons, Alchemist's Tower, and Sanctum mods. If I remember right, I think they all touch different maps, and if so, then in theory they...

Re: Opinions on Book III (SPOILERS)

It looks like the ending was changed/cut/rushed towards the end. Read this. The artist obviously didn't add the Dragon for shits and giggles... Rushed? No. Book 3 took nearly three years to make. If it were rushed you would have had it back in 2012. What happened was I reached the limits of the eng...

Re: Opinions on Book III (SPOILERS)

Mod support for Book I is actually an interesting subject. Some of the game's resources are just sitting out on the filesystem, so adding new ones would be easy - maps, graphics, music, sound. The rest, however, are embedded in the executable itself, and so outside the reach of even a third party m...

Re: Opinions on Book III (SPOILERS)

Why do you have such a hard-on IJBall for rebuilding Book I and II with the Book III engine? :) The advantages of converting Book I to Book III should be obvious - better graphics (i.e. better resolution), as well as the enhanced gameplay elements. (And I think the conversion of Book I probably has...

Re: Opinions on Book III (SPOILERS)

I keep hoping someone will do an Ash Island mod for Book I........ It's on my list... Though I'll probably take a little break after I'm done building this huge Book II mod. Wait - how would that work? Would you "rebuild" all of the Book I maps using the Book III map editor, and then add ...

Re: Opinions on Book III (SPOILERS)

I've never understood why people were surprised that meeting with Karamiklan was the end of the game. Were none of you touching the quick travel markers? I came prepared for a fight but nothing could prepare me for the ending cinematic. :( Well, a cinematic of a dragon was rather disappointing. I, ...

Re: Opinions on Book III (SPOILERS)

I guess I generally expect the last game in a series to far surpass the others, since the engine, world design and lore, etc are more ironed out and graphics can be re-used. They are usually the longest and don't make compromises, yet Book III feels shortest which I kind of found disappointing. The...

Yeah, this looks awesome ! :D I'm almost off work for the summer, and will definitely give this mod a shot when I've got the free time. One request: please also post something about this to the Modding - Eschalon: Book III forum , especially once it's finished and ready for downloading! - Yes, I kno...

Re: Foraging Info (SPOILERS)

BW added the ingredients for Healing Elixir to containers in the first few zones so getting them from foraging isn''t that big of a problem... Perhaps, but I don't think that changes my point that they should also be the first couple of Alchemical ingredients available from Foraging. One point - I'...

Re: Foraging Info (SPOILERS)

As for what items are available at what levels of the skill, it follows a consistent pattern of introducing one new item each skill level with the exception of skill levels 2 and 3 (Foraging Skill level on the left, new item(s) available starting at that level on the right): 1 - Bittercup Seeds, Wi...
