Re: Savefile Character / Map Editor
It's true - the Windows version is much easier to instal. Gotta love NEXT NEXT NEXT NEXT NEXT NEXT NEXT :D Reminder: you DO have to download and install ALL of the applications/packages that xolotl mentioned. I was confused why there were two executables for gtk+ (2.12.9-1 and 2.12.9-2), so I downlo...

Re: Savefile Character / Map Editor
Alright so apparently I first had to update Python to 2.6.2. I did that with some help and lots of stumbling around by creating a custom .bash_profile. This was all in preparation for installing CAIRO... the only option for doing which is to compile it and the configure file was running into the err...

Re: Newbie starting Eschalon - please help out
Things are going quite well. Got to level 5 by indulging my anal-retentiveness and picking every lock and disarming every trap. Got Cartography to 5. Going to keep pumping Swords to 20 (it's at 18 now). Zero idea what to do after that. Really hope I find a Book that teaches Heavy Armor soon so I can...

Re: Save game error
Found the save-game folder. For Mac users, search for "Eschalon Book 1 Saved Games".
Going to try and back mine up as often as I can.

Re: List of issues encountered in Mac version.
A few additional issues: 33. The number of keys a player has grows quickly. A Keyring item purchased from an NPC could help resolve the issue by having all keys picked up be automatically added to the Keyring. The player could right-click the Keyring item to see a list of keys in possession. 34. Sta...

Re: List of issues encountered in Mac version.
Some additional concerns: 28. A player can hit Escape to leave the merchant window, but this option doesn't exist for exiting a dialogue tree. Keyboard shortcuts are needed to ease the flow of conversation. 29. Double-clicking an existing entry in the SAVE box should save in that entry instead of gi...

Re: Newbie starting Eschalon - please help out
Thank you very much for your replies everyone! Between your posts and IJBall's awesome thread I think I have a layout as good as I'll get. I've decided on the following: Light Armor 1 (Most early game armor is Light Armor) Pick Locks 1 (To use lockpicks) Swords 6 Hide in Shadows 1 Disarm Traps 1 Mov...

Re: List of issues encountered in Mac version.
A few additional issues to report: 26. The red X (close window) button in the upper-left corner doesn't work when the game is in Windowed mode 27. Selecting several skills in the CCS and then clicking the dice to re-roll stats removes all selections from the "Known Skills" column Dragonlad...

List of issues encountered in Mac version.
I must admit that it took me a while to calm down so I could write this post. I was upset because as I played Eschalon I felt so close to losing myself in the world and storyline, only to be pulled out time and time again by the frustrating controls and glitches. I really felt I was beta-testing a p...

Re: Newbie starting Eschalon - please help out
Finished reading through the entire player manual and failed to find any enlightening answers. 1) Is there a cap to the number of skills a player can know at the same time? I look at my character sheet and there's very little room down there! 2) Are there any caps for stats or skills? 3) What's the ...

Re: Newbie starting Eschalon - please help out
Due respect, but I gave reading the two threads you mentioned a shot and both failed to dwell on the technical details that I'm trying to find out. Item lists or Spell lists or quest help are nice, but I'm after mechanics. BTW, what do you mean in respect to finding items in "walls and rocks&qu...

Re: Newbie starting Eschalon - please help out
Thanks for the reply Randomizer, I thought these forums were dead! :P Actually, a question about Cartography - at what level does the skill stop adding new features to the map? And if I map an area with a high Cartography skill boosted by items and then return without those items, will I still see t...

Newbie starting Eschalon - please help out
I'm trying out the game and exploring Elderhollow. I thought I'd try to explore the game on my own and rolled a fighter, but became frustrated once I started running into numerous traps and locks. I've done a little bit of reading and just wanted to clear up a few questions before taking another sta...
