Re: yay for getting closer to the release date

A high Cartography skill allows you to draw a more accurate map. Spot hidden should be used to find hidden or difficult to find paths. Once the path is found the high cartography skill would allow the character to draw the hidden path in great detail, so anyone using the map could find it. A high C...

Re: What we're working on today...

BW you keep coming up with cool ideas. I'd like to see some quicker ways to travel. Horses or something. And more dungeons! A random cave generator might be useful.

Of course I have no idea how to create such a thing. (Big sigh.)

yay for getting closer to the release date

Hey hey hey looking forward to this great game. I realize it's not much of a post but it's no less heartfelt for all of that. Probably someone has said this already and I realize most of the features probably are already installed, but it would be pretty cool if cartography allowed us actually to go...

Re: One thing that surprised me

Thanks for the kind words. One thing to note is that this was our first game, so it was hard for us to judge balancing and game length. As for the game ending abruptly, the entire storyline was broken into 3 "books" so there was no easy way to give a deeply satisfying ending to the first ...

One thing that surprised me

First I'd like to say I'm a big fan of the idea behind this company and I couldn't praise its founder more. He's trying to make games he likes and which obviously a lot of us like. Eschalon 1 focuses heavily on story and character and setting--all of which inexplicably seem to be concepts lost by bi...

Re: Development Update for April

There aren't many games I'm excited about ordering, but this is one!

Re: Is it legal to do so?

This is fine, you can sell your CD (technically that means you must uninstall the game from your computer as well, but whether you do or don't is your decision). I completely understand what it's like to buy more games than you have time to play! :) Oh boy I've been doing this literally since the f...

Re: not loading

Ah-HA! If I install it into the default directory, it works. If I install it into my own directory, it doesn't. In the interest of trying to help you troubleshoot, to answer your question, nope I'd just get the hourglass, then nothing. Ctrl-alt-tab wouldn't even show it as a running process. But I s...

Re: not loading

Unfortunately nope. In fact, I uninstalled the demo again and downloaded it from this site again. Installed it, and--same thing. It sure seems to me as though some registry entry isn't getting deleted. I hadn't installed anything after running the demo for the first time, so I don't otherwise unders...

Re: not loading

I also can't get the game to load. I'm using XP Pro. I doubleclick on the demo icon; I get an hourglass, then nothing. I check running processes and it doesn't show. I also tried running it in 256 colors, in 640x480 mode, in compatibility modes of various older versions of Windows, but it won't star...
