Re: Eschalon 1 2 3 and Steam

I think you're misunderstanding something there. AFTER the release of Book III, BW has talked about putting together a sort of "Gold Disk" with all three games in the most up-to-date form, with extras like scenario development tools, etc. And cloth maps, of course. Our promised reward for...

Re: Support for Linux

BW, my concern would be what happened to us before, where Ubuntu was using libraries not common to most standard Linux distros. eg: glibc version. I would still prefer you used Debian stable as your base sytem, that way, everybody should have minimum difficulty in running the compilation straight ou...

Re: RPGs That Absolutely, Definitely, 100% Have To Be Made

Can't help thinking there's an RPG based on "The Crystal Maze" just begging to be made. Side quests to find Starbuck The Cat, and Bert The Horse, rescue Mumsie from Ed Ten Pole Tudor's clutches? :D

Re: Will there be a build with lower glibc requirements ?

...will there be a build of Eschalon II that has a lower libc6 requirement? At this point, probably not. We compiled the game on Ubuntu 10.04 , which is the most recent Long Term Support edition. Most likely we will stay with this version through the release of our next game. I mean absolutely no d...

Just as well BW didn't compile on that then, or even Ubuntu users would be struggling. :!:

Re: How to make Eschalon Book II run faster?

So I'm trying out the demo before buying because Book I was kinda slow on my laptop (but bearable, nothing big). Eschalon II is running extremely slower, the demo at least. But it's really irritating. I've got a Celeron, 550 @200GHZ processer with 1015 MB RAM apparently. I use Vista. Any help? Plis...

I boogered aroung with it but never got it to work. I reset my screen size to 1024 x 786, but I still had to scroll down to see the bottom of the screen. Oh, well. I probably spend too much time playing this game. Thanks to everybody for their suggestions. Have you got the Windoze "Task Bar&qu...

Re: Will there be a build with lower glibc requirements ?

I just had to install required packages, using standard package manager. Score brownie point for ArchLinux. If you try it with other distros, Mandriva, Slackware and Fedora come to mind, glibc 2.11 isn't carried in the standard repositories. I think basically BlitzMax just used whatever libs it fin...

Re: Slight annoyance

That's odd, I had DX9 as an option on my XP laptop. However, my experience was that DX7 was much faster than DX9... by a good 30-50%. Of course, it's a old laptop, so the Vid-card might not handle DX9 all that well. Could well be, that`s one of the things I was hoping to compare. Flashing Box updat...

Re: Will there be a build with lower glibc requirements ?

Does "fairly standard" means outdated? No, it means "stable". If you look at distrowatch, most of the mainstream distros are still shipping much earlier glibc versions, and quite a few of them do not carry 2.11 on the mirrors, obtaining that can be quite beyond the inexperienced...

Re: [Solved!] EBII hanging on startup (Slack13.0/x64)

phaedrus, masterful piece of detective work there. Think I`d be ploughing through reference books for most of the rest of the year, and still not consider that outcome. Really does look like BlitzMax appears to be compiling in some very specific stuff, assuming that it's necessary, when in fact thos...
