Re: Elemental mage - Intellegence or Perception ?
perception + meditation should equal 38 to max out your mana regen, which is essential for a spellcaster. Then dump the points into wis for healer and int for elementalist, as those will increase your mana AMOUNT. You might wanna go and put some point into strength to carry more stuff and have more ...

Re: Be honest - do you cheat, and how?
I have to agree with Elveron in one regard: we don't scale the game to anyone's skill level (like Oblivion does). This makes the game overly challenging to some, overly easy to others. The biggest problem now is that we are difficulty adjusting Book II, but with so many people finishing Book I proc...

Re: Can anyone tell me what the algorithms behind the stats are?
For example, did you know that in Eschalon, if you want an effective magic user you need a bunch of points in meditation because it seems to exponentially increase your mana regen rate? I didn't the first time around and spent DAYS of in game time replenishing mana between fights for my mage. Actua...

Re: Can anyone tell me what the algorithms behind the stats are?
Otherwise the game becomes about "who spends the most time researching the formulas on the internet". Um, I disagree strongly. How are Eschalon players even ranked against each other? I don't feel cheated that somebody out there has a better character than I do. Who's forcing you to do th...

Re: Can anyone tell me what the algorithms behind the stats are?
I have to agree with the op in this regard. there are TWO sensible ways of doing this: 1. Have automatic leveling scheme, per skill leveling (like dungeon siege 1) or other simple method that requires no optimizations on the users behalf. 2. Have a deep and complex system where EVERY SINGLE FORMULA ...
