Re: Alternate download links - France

I tried the linux file twice, and the checksums weren't matching the ones that were posted.

The posted checksum matches the file I pulled off of the now fixed download link though, I'm not sure what's going on with it.

Re: Your First Character Playing Book III?

Aren't you worried about the beginning merchant not stocking enough arrows? Never had a problem if you min-max and pump your skill up as high as you can first few levels and use a club until then, or find a skill book/trainer to buy an attack spell. But I did ranger first time though last books. Th...

Re: Rangers - What's the Best Approach?

The really annoying thing I find about rangers is they cant hold a torch while shooting. What I to I just invest in bow skill and go druidic. The above limitation means you really can't be effective in a dungeon anyway until you get predator sight or cat eyes. (Gravediggers flame is just putting a g...

Re: Sanitarium

I don't know. I've played it, but didn't get a strong impression either way. Of the three cd's It came on I got somewhere to the middle of the second. There's a lot of context switching which is what makes the game a bit annoying, but on the other hand makes you want to keep playing. I think it's a ...

Re: Unique Item Suggestions

Everlasting Arrow 1 dam. 10 lbs Special: Returns to quiver when fired. (Contrary to popular this arrow is not everlasting, but take mind to straighten the arrows and sharpen the tip and it will last many years. It's magic also works against any movement of it's own quiver, making it difficult to tra...

Re: Cartography - get rid of it

My thoughts on this thread For a pre-game switch for cartography. Probably way to specific. The strength of this game IMHO is the flexibility and openness. However a switch that gives you a pre-game skill point bonus of 10 points at a 10% final score penalty or requires 2x the experience in the firs...

Re: General Linux Thread

Just about all the games of GOG.com run in WINE without a fuss. Just doublecheck the appdb first. The witcher 1 and 2 are the exceptions I've found so fare. As to gemRB, it's nice if you have a different pc architecture (powerPC, ARM, Loongsoon) or want the extra UI features it includes for Baldurs ...

Re: what's your favorite class in book II

My favorite play though was as a troll. 35 of skills into unarmed, 30 into medicine. 15 into dodge 80% of stats into endurance. (over 400 HP by the end of the game) ended up with 99% resistances, Strategy was to just go in and start bashing monsters over the head, if hp dropped below 100 run behind ...

I liked the code better, that way I can easily switch between different computers, even if they use different operating systems.

Cigars, Blux? ¿Cigars? Bleh... . What makes a person say, "These cigs aren't enough for me, I need a big fat blunt in my mouth?" What makes a person say "I don't drink natty lite, but I'd sure appreciate a microbrew"? Quality and class. Good cigars are made form some of the worl...

Re: bars of medal

bars are very good idea of "treasure". the most detailed "treasures" I`ve seen were those in Yendorian Tales and BG series... gold nuggets, bars of metals, many precious gems...I like the attitude...and hoarding theese ;> In MM8, I filled my dragon's inventory up entirely with g...

Re: Smoking?

I can't stand smoke. I almost tried smoking one day when I was digging through the garbage at a fair grounds and found a pack with one cigarette left in it. Had the lighter in my pocket and everything. It never looked appetizing and still doesn't. That's because most cigarettes suck balls. Cheap to...

Re: Shield deflection? (also q's about loot)

For your last question I've made a partial item list (still in the works so to speak) Basically each material has it's own durability, and a weight multiplier, a value multiplier and a damage adder. Each weapon (Long Sword, Great axe, et cetera) has it's own base value, base damage, and base weight...

Re: For the folks yearning for respawns...

So... I think I might have discovered something. Try this y'all(or skip to the end of post for explanation): -Load up the savegame of your baddest bad dude of them all who's about to fight the end boss or something. Preferably he's yet to enter the end boss castle so he can quickly go to Yoma Narro...
