Re: Character hacking...how important is it?

I very rarely do it, but sometimes it's very useful to reduce tedium.

Like when you're in Fathamurk and running out of food :-)

Re: Who wants to help test "The Secret of Fathamurk"?

I would definitely vote for the more content version !

As for the vegas thing, well I don't even know what that is (I'm sure it's a game), but you should do what you think is best.

I'm perfectly happy waiting. :)

Re: +2 fire damage weapon doesn't work on spirits ??

one more thing, I had a stonebreaker amulet which gives plus to hit, and that was not good enough. so it's a little confusing. you need bonus damage, but bonus fire damage (or cold, poison) doesn't count.

Re: +2 fire damage weapon doesn't work on spirits ??

that was it ! Previous characters invariably had a bloodlust ring or a pendant that gives bonus damage too.

enchanted weapon spell definitely works too. naturally it turned up in a shop just AFTER I bought the magickal spiked mace

+2 fire damage weapon doesn't work on spirits ??

does it have to be magical damage, i.e. +2 damage ?

I can't for the life of me remember what previous characters had, but I thought it was just fire/cold damage, and not +to hit or +damage.

I'm sure this is a repeat but I couldn't seem to turn up a thread with search.

Thanks

Re: Is the game really that hard?

as someone who was having starting trouble I found the following to be immensely useful: at least a few points of mercantile to start same for forage get that weapon skill to 10 as quickly as possible. being able to buy things and having a weapon feat makes the beginning of the game much more enjoya...

Re: Westwillow not available in linux version 1.03 ?!

Westwillow is not available in any of the 1.03 versions ?

I guess that means the folks completing the bell quest are using beta 1.04 ?

Westwillow not available in linux version 1.03 ?!

Won't let me go there.

I thought I found a thread that said it wouldn't be available until 1.04, is that right ?

Haven't seen that 1.04 is available yet.

dropping spells

I've run into a spell limit because of my wisdom.

Is there any way to "drop" spells to make room for new ones.

If there isn't, there should be !

I'd much rather have stonesking rather than leatherskin :)

Re: the grind is wearing me down

well I finally broke through... forage was the key and a high alchemy. that and a lot of camping. I was able to start enchanting weapon & armor and that helped a lot to survive encounters. plus I got to 10 in sword as soon as possible and that helped too. really a lot of little things. the probl...

Re: the grind is wearing me down

If you're doing a straight melee fighter, it's really going to be tough on you, as you'll take a lot of damage along the way until your skills are high enough yep. I really wanted to play straight melee out of the gate and it was brutal. I did try to focus on armor and weapons ONLY. The problem wit...

the grind is wearing me down

I can't seem to get to a point where I'm having any fun I have to admit the leveling is just about right, except that I always seem to be far enough behind that everything is a grind. level up: wolves kill me, bonebiters kill me level up: snow wolves kill me, mire trolls kill me, devil manders kill ...

Re: No Sound?

Here's the solution to my sound issues. First big round of applause to the Ubuntu forum user Kilz who created this 32-bit library: http://home.comcast.net/~deletebox/ia32-alsa-oss_1.0.10-1_amd64.deb I simply downloaded and installed using "dpkg --install" However I find that I also have to...
