Re: Skill books and trainers
The major difference from E2 is that almost all trainers in E3 declare themselves only after you have fulfilled a quest for them. So side quests don't just add points, they also make you eligible for training.

No Mac version currently accessible
Currently (11 am EST) I see no way to download the Mac version of Eschalon III. I realize that a release day brings heavy traffic, especially for a long-anticipated item like this. Nevertheless, can we have an timely update as to when we can expect the Mac version to become reliably available? Thank...

Re: Character hacking...how important is it?
As I wrote in my review of Eschalon, I play games for the story, atmosphere and worldbuilding, not for combat or stats. So I want to see everything. I played both Eschalon games before I knew that characters were hackable or that I could reload previous characters into a new game. I have never yet p...

Re: Vanishing Fathamurk key
Heh, heh. I knew this primitive kludge might munge something. So before the keychain surgery I made a backup copy of the Char file and also took the precaution of tucking all quest-vital items in a barrel . My futzing resulted in the deletion of two items. But nothing indispensable or critical.

Re: Vanishing Fathamurk key
Everyone, thanks for the helpful replies! Xolotl's Eschalon II character editor is time-consuming and complicated to install for non-Windows users. He and I discussed this in private exchanges a while ago. I know he has a call out for a Mac-native version of his editor. I did something very simple: ...

Re: Fathamurk help. [SPOILERS]
I tried uploading the Char file, but the site kept saying the file extension is not allowed (?!). I tried adding .htm and .txt suffixes, no go. I will send it to BW by e-mail.

Re: Fathamurk help. [SPOILERS]
Right now, my key ring has 20 keys. This has not been a problem before, but that was in version 1.0.4.

Vanishing Fathamurk key
[Also mentioned on another thread] I have a problem on the first level of Fathamurk: I collect the diamond chip key -- but when I look at my key ring, the key is not there, so I cannot unlock the door. I've done this twice now. The key disappeared both times. Specifics: I reloaded an old high-level ...

Re: Fathamurk help. [SPOILERS]
I have the same problem: I collect the diamond chip key -- but when I look at my key ring, the key is not there, so I cannot unlock the door. I've done this twice now. The key disappeared both times. Specifics: I reloaded an old high-level character, whose key ring is crowded. Also, I'm a Mac user. ...

Re: What's missing??
Jedi Learner, I've been playing Rogue-style games (which is the category that Eschalon belongs to) since the first 26-level alphanumeric game first showed up on UNIX. I enjoy this kind of game for the quality of the worldbuilding and the excitement of the exploration. So there's nothing wrong with a...

Also: the ability to wear more than two rings and one amulet. We can do so in real life, having more than two fingers and ample chests!

Re: What's missing??
Two other items that Basilisk Wrangler might consider including in Book 3: Potion or Spell of Increase Level Potion or Spell of Temporary Polymorphing Potion or Spell of Levitation These would be very high level, naturally. But they would give the player interesting choices (the player could "p...

Re: What's missing??
Both East Nor'land (Hellice Lake) and West Amireth (Thundersun Grazing Lands) are too monotonous in both style and content. Given no landscape features to use for strategy, the player is reduced to brute force killing of enemies. The two areas would have been far better if they were either reduced i...

How do I use the looking glass? It cannot be equipped as a weapon.
