Re: Happy Thanksgiving 2018

Happy thanksgiving, Ssschah! And everyone else. Hope you have had a relaxing day away from coding and computers and all of that, Thomas! Thanks! I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, except of those of you outside the U.S., in which case I hope you had a splendid Thursday. I've been playi...

Re: Who wants a sneak peak at TRC?

I'd love to see a screenshot of that high-def isometric with Eschalon's textures, just so I have some eye candy to drool over. :) Unfortunately I don't have that running anymore (guess I should have grabbed a screenshot). But do you guys want to see what the game used to look like when it was in 3D...

Re: Who wants a sneak peak at TRC?

This sci-fi RPG is really unique in several aspects, in that nothing quite like it has been done before as far as I know... Will the change to isometric affect this uniqueness? A pity that you didn't go the Kickstarter route since you have a working demo and from what you've posted it was received ...

Re: Who wants a sneak peak at TRC?

I don't think you'll hear many Eschalon fans being upset about switching to an isometric engine ;) I'm glad to hear things are going well. I saw via RSS that you posted a similar message a couple of months ago but then quickly took it down. I was concerned that that was a bad sign. Well, it's been ...

Re: Who wants a sneak peak at TRC?

How did September and October go? Thanks for asking! It went very well. I had pages of suggestions to implement and technical issues to address. The game concept was very well received and everyone is excited to see the game move forward. There is a problem, however. TRC as a full 3D game is, unfor...

I am high-jacking this thread, with this epic debate between Jordan Petersson and Umbrella on the subject of Trumps IQ: [removed] [removed] Removed your YouTube links because we generally don't allow cross promotion with other sites or channels (it actually lowers our ranking to have random links c...

Re: Who wants a sneak peak at TRC?

A couple people have asked for an update, so here's your Labor Day news: August testing went well. Lots of issues discussed and improvements to be made, but overall I feel like we've got a really great RPG here. Our tester really enjoyed what he saw, and I think It will be worth the wait for everyon...

Re: Who wants a sneak peak at TRC?

Years ago I would have been the first to respond to a thread such as this. How times change. No worries, PM. The new game is not isometric and it's not fantasy, so I expect I'll alienate quite a few long-time fans with it. Still, it's what I've wanted to do for years so either I'll sell enough to k...

Re: Who wants a sneak peak at TRC?

I've got someone lined up for the August test. Sorry, it's nobody who responded here, but it is someone who has helped test before and has been lurking around here for many years. They contacted me via PM. I will likely take comments and suggestions from this person, update what I feel needs to be u...

Re: Who wants a sneak peak at TRC?

Oh, I should also say that TRC is NOT an isometric, sprite based engine. It is not the next-gen Eschalon engine. This game will require (at least) a mid-level gaming PC and a decent graphics card. The engine is full 3D with modern GPU effects via DX11/OpenGL. So dusting off a 10-year-old PC with 2 g...

Who wants a sneak peak at TRC?

Here's the situation: We're making a sci-fi RPG that is different in many ways to anything that has been done before. Because of this, it is absolutely essential that we make sure the gameplay experience is accessible to as many players as possible. While a lot of "inside" people (colleagues in the...

Re: Update - June 17

I had a lengthy meeting this past weekend with one of my lead testers (a guy who has helped with everything I've done since Book I) and he gave me some much needed feedback on the interface. Due to the nature of TRC not being a "traditional fantasy" RPG, it is more important than ever that we give t...
