Re: Who wants a sneak peak at TRC?

Some of the tester comments were "Why can't I explore that area?" and I was thinking to myself "because that would be another 3 months of work for me just to give you 10 minutes of additional exploration!" This is one of the reasons I've always preferred simple game engines. Upping the level of det...

Re: Who wants a sneak peak at TRC?

I don't think you'll hear many Eschalon fans being upset about switching to an isometric engine ;)

I'm glad to hear things are going well. I saw via RSS that you posted a similar message a couple of months ago but then quickly took it down. I was concerned that that was a bad sign.

Re: Magic items that add damage.....

Just to attacks, not spells. They do affect unarmed attacks, though, and will cause them to damage enemies that resist non-magical attacks.

Re: Who wants a sneak peak at TRC?

I would certainly be willing to give it a test. If you haven't already selected the tester. I did just upgrade to a newer iMac. Not exactly a screaming gaming machine, but certainly should be capable. EDIT: Oops. Saw the "PC" part. Hm. Maybe I can get my brother to drive back to town with his gamin...

Re: Who wants a sneak peak at TRC?

I'll happily boot up Windows as necessary to help test. I'm certainly not representative of the modern mainstream gamer, though. The last few games I've played were Pokemon Go, Balrum, and Life is Strange. The fact that I can't easily remember 5 off the top of my head probably isn't a good sign. I d...

What are you doing when you see that error message? What version of macOS are you running?

Re: Is it Possible to Cure Paul's Disease?

I was pretty sure the answer was no, but I checked the dialog files to be sure. No, you can't cure Paul.

Re: The Sanctum: Mod for powerful wizards

Awesome! So glad you enjoyed it. I had fun trying to figure out things the engine could do that hadn't been used in the main games before.

Re: Back on the series after a long time

I'd love to hear your thoughts on my Book III mod if you attempt it. You'll have to be a pure mage or near to it to have all the spells you'll need to get through.

Congrats! I'd love to see a screenshot of you surviving the dragon breath. I tried a max HP character but wasn't able to get high enough.

Never seen that, but also never tried using Turn Undead against him. Can you beat him without?

Ironically SpottedShroom, you are definitely one person that I am looking forward to getting feedback from. TRP has technical elements that I feel you might have strong opinions on.

You'll see what I mean.
I look forward to it!

Re: The State of the Basilisk, Summer 2017

I may not love TRP. I probably wasn't going to love Zatmos. And honestly, my love for Eschalon is partly nostalgia at this point. But Eschalon was an important part of my gaming life when it came out, and that's enough for me to give you the benefit of the doubt and pick up whatever you release. And...

Re: What *exactly* are the differences between the classes?

The differences between classes are (1) starting skill and (2) which stat affects your max MP. In Book I, Intelligence contributes to MP at character creation for all classes, plus at level up for Mages, Fighters, and Rogues. Wisdom contributes to MP at both character creation and level up for Heale...
