Re: Forum changes coming...

Overall, looks good to me. 8) I notice that "View active topics" still doesn't work properly, though. It stopped working some months ago; I was hoping the update would fix it, but apparently not! Can anything be done about that?

Re: Beta testers needed!

Thanks Siemova! That appears to have been the problem. :D Excellent! You're welcome. About the sword: at first glance it didn't bother me much - probably because the sword itself looks cool - but the more I look at it the more it seems... out of place. I think it's partly that the crossguard overla...

Re: Beta testers needed!

Hmm, on our Mac Book Pro there seems to be a dark background to the graphics on the front page - visible using both Firefox and Safari. Odd....anyone else seeing this? Yes, I see this in Firefox 3.5.2 on Windows as well. If you save graphics with embedded color profiles, recent versions of both Fir...

Re: Registration the way others do it...?

Easier and more straightforward for all concerned. Sounds good to me!

Tangentially related: do you think we'll need separate keys for Windown/Mac/Linux versions, or could one key work for them all?

Re: Great Free Software

One of the first things I install on a fresh copy of Windows is Glary Utilities , a very handy all-in-one solution for repairing the registry, clearing out temporary files, uninstalling programs, managing startup and context menu items, encrypting and decrypting files, retrieving deleted files, and ...

Re: New Basilisk Games Logo?

Thanks, Dragonlady! I concur about the A. :P Looking at the Book II screenshots recently, I realized the text above your stats (Hit Points, etc.) will be the same (or at least a very similar) font used in BW's proposed new logo. I think it looks pretty good in that context, but not so much on a larg...

Possible alternative?

Both the current and the proposed logos have things going for them, but I'm not sure the new font looks right. I know you want a cleaner look, BW, but I think that looks almost too crisp. Just for kicks, I browsed through some fonts online and made a few alternative mockups in Photoshop. My favorite...

Re: Book II design question

Took a while to read through all that. :-p For my part, please consider this a strong vote against limiting players' ability to save/reload. Not only could that ruin the fun and interest for some people (regardless of whether the current system does that for others), but it would also require a lot ...

I love both of those ideas (disable large hand-held shields while using a bow or torch rather than forcing you to manually remove them, but allow arm-mounted bucklers and such to be used concurrently). Please, Basilisk, at least consider this for Book II!

Found a couple more, this time in Skill Point distribution.

In the explanation of Alchemy:
...more potent a mixture your can create.
Also, in the description of Speed:
lower base armor rating
Shouldn't that be "higher"?

Actually, earlier today he confirmed to me that they're still working on it. See here. 8)

go south beyond Crakamir?

In Book I, the southern border of Crakamir doesn't let you pass, informing you (IIRC) that it would be too dangerous and you should save the journey for another day. Is that merely a narrative way of explaining an arbitrary, permanent border, or do you expect to allow passage later (whether in Book ...

Sounds great -- I'm looking forward to it. :)

This does make me want to ask, though, whether you're still planning to finish Book I. You've referred to at least two uncompleted quest arcs (vaults and lighthouse/boat) which I'd really love to see come to fruition. Please do keep working on those!
