My suggestion: Pure mages need a nerf. I suggest some of the more useful spells require reagents. Lockmelt, for example, could require spending a unit of sulfur to cast. agree with you on the overpowered mage front. either make the lock and trap spelss stop working at a certain level of item, like you suggested, or make the skill requirement to cast high level spells higher. i've always found in RPGs that mages are often overpowered and they overlap with other class...

I've seen some armour with +2 dexterity somewhere. That was not an outstanding piece of equipment, but perhaps it's possible to find your reptile body armour with the same dexterity bonus, imbue that with +3 armour rating and you would have something even better. so you're saying +3 poison on a weapon only does more damage on each actual attack, and the "tick" is always 1 damage per turn?
i suggest it should be 1 damage a turn for +1, 2 for +2 and 3 for +3.
