I really like PoR's setting and design. I love the idea of an old city overrun with baddies and in ruins with a new, settled area being used as a staging ground for taking the city back. Easily one of my favorite RPG adventures. I actually still have the Gold Box "Silver Anniversary" editi...

Water Travel

It would be great if we could hop on a boat and paddle around the coastline or a big lake.

Oh look, an island! And what's that on it? A tower ruin? Let's go check it out...

I do agree, that merchants open 24 hours sitting in the same spot do give them the feel of 24 hour vending machines. I liked BW idea of closing shops at certain times, which I think is a good start. An improvement on this would be to spawn in a different NPC that runs the say the "Night Shift&...

And I agree, NPC schedules do not really add that much atmosphere. It was "neat" in 1990, but I think we need to move on. :D First, i think they add very much to the atmosphere! Otherwise the npcs would just be diablo-like buying/selling machines. A neat little backstory here and there, i...

I think the scripting part would be fine rather than the AI deciding things. Or say when game hour equals X go to location Y and when game hour equals W go to Z. This could also point the NPC to a differnt set of scripting options for that location. Indeed. I don't think it needs to be any more com...

NPCs with Day/Night Shifts

Another thing I liked about The Magic Candle CRPG was that many NPCs had their own day/night/ schedules. For instance, you could find an old man in the park feeding the pigeons only in the afternoon for a few hours or a ship captain in the tavern at night but hanging around near his ship during the ...

This is something I miss dearly. But with my kids hitting 12 and 10 this year, I'm hoping to start up a regular D&D session for them and a few friends. Just have to brush up on the rules.

I would like the future Eschalon games in solo based gameplay. Changing from book to book will just make the game more "false". It could easily work into an ongoing storyline simply by introducing new characters along the way that you have the option of joining to your party, ALA The Magi...

I've always preferred party-based CRPGs. That's not to say I don't enjoy single character RPGs, but I definitely enjoy creating and developing an entire party of characters.

I totaly agree on an overland map...bu not one like geneforge....I like the walking....it could make the wold soooo much bigger with the least amount of work required....just think you could have encounters that pop up like they did in fallout....and these could be random or set ones....also the id...
