CRPG Book
Hey folks, I made a post a while ago about a book "Dungeons and Desktops" that seemed to be appreciated, so I'm here to tell about another book. You can actually get this book PDF free online -- just google "CRPG Book" and there is a free version. But they just finished the secon...

Re: Emerge: Cities of the Apocalypse
This is looking really cool.
Depending on your video skills I would recommend having your bullet points slide across the bottom of the screen, one after another. Having 4 bullet points taking up 1/4 the screen of video and just sitting there for seconds on end, isn't very good. It blocks too much.

Re: A Small Update...
Please have a more open dev environment this time so your fanbase and interest will grow and grow. We don't need AAA quality screenshots of all the engine features. Just give some info on the type of game other than "scifi rpg". Is it isometric, first-person gridbased, will it have a party...

Re: The New Bard's Tale
Yes yes yes !! Bard's Tale III was the first game I bought with my own money. It went for $20 which was just what I could afford, was in a cardboard folder (no box) and was found in the dwindling C64 section of Electronics Boutique (US store). I spent many hours playing with my party configuration a...

Re: 10 Year Anniversary Celebration
Congratulations on the face lift, the new theme / site looks great.
Feel free to provide updates on new game such as style or design or anything else about it.
We don't need AAA screenshots worthy of a magazine cover, here.

What is Basilisk Games doing next ?
I know Basilisk likes to make official announcements after things are a done-deal but it would be appreciated if there was hint of what direction Basilisk is taking since Eschalon III is out. What's next on the books? I remember rumor of a sci-fi party-based rpg engine that was half-developed but th...

Re: A Party and improved AI
How did you get from wanting a party, to piracy? I agree with OP, but I doubt anything will change for Book III. The games they list as Eschalon being inspired by are all party based games, so this is just a glaring gap. Perhaps the futuristic Bard's Tale or whatever the next type they are cooking u...

Re: Might & Magic LE
I'm very tempted by the GOG offer but... time is an issue. I know I can spend a LOT of it on MMI & II alone, just catching up. I played these RPGs at the same age you did and you will be surprised at how much better you are now at playing games. I remember spending a couple months playing Bard'...

Re: Might & Magic LE
I beat M&M1 with a cluebook. I just can't take not having an automap. For M&M2 I didn't make a huge dent in the main quest but I did find a nice magical well in a desert that bumped stats up to 200, then I would transport to a valley with very nasty creatures. After several failed attempts ...

Re: What was the first RPG you ever played?
First RPG I ever played was over a friend's house. It was Tunnels of Doom for the TI99. And it was awesome.
I then played or watched people play Ultima IV, Sword of Fargoal, and Bard's Tale II on the C64.
First RPG I bought with my own money was Bard's Tale III for the C64.

The 'a' is touching the 'B' but otherwise it looks good. Miss the little lizard/basilisk, though.

Re: The Bard's Tale II
That huge XP bump wasn't a bug. I beg to differ. BT3 had a bug at the review board that when you complete a special quest for an experience reward and then change something in your party, when you went back to the review board your party would receive a ton of experience. Personally what happened t...

Re: Registration the way others do it...?
People have asked about this before. The common thing to do is buy another copy and give it to a friend. That's as good a donation as anything....is there a donation button anywhere around site?
