What about at the beginning of Book 2 you met some sort of midievil type (or Eschalony type) witch doctor/chemist whom you could buy a transgender type potion or he could do some sort procedure on you. If you made it be fairly expensive, where you'd have to go on some mini quests to find enough gold...

Quaan that is so funny I totally know what you mean only it usually happens to me reading really good books - I'm like no that didn't actually happen to me that was in the book, I totally lose myself.

I read Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" that was pretty good. I had a friend recommend "Stalking Tender Prey" by Storm Constantine but I could not get into it. Has anyone read it? Is it worth trying again?

Have you ever read any of China Mieville's books? They are unlike anything I have ever read - fantastic! Start with "Perdido Street Station" if you are ever looking for something new.
