Re: No! Good Old Games is gone!

I gotta admit, considering the fact that a site shutdown is the worse thing that could happen with thsi type of service, it was a pretty big /fail on their part. Maybe, it sort of made a statement though. Even if they went down, an industrious individual that saved their .exe's would be able to pla...

Re: Intel Graphics

Ok yes I know that intel integrated graphics suck but really this bad???? Yes, they do suck that bad. Any discrite card, ANY, will run circles around Intel's onboard graphics. If you have a PCI Express x16 slot just pick up the cheepest of cheep cards at Newegg and be on your merry way (if not you'...

Re: "The Secret of Fathamurk" FAQ

Will this work on PPC macs? No. We had to drop PPC support because some of the tools we use to make the game no longer work on older Macs. I am very sorry if this will impact any of our customers negatively. The decision to drop PPC support will mean better support overall for current Macs. Given m...

Re: Do advertisements work?

I bought it on steam as well as direct, mostly because I had drank a can of Joose gaming in the basement (while a friend was watching what appeared to be the result of someone doing number 2 on a film cell, Horrorplanet) and decided I was too lazy to go upstairs and get the disk. Distribution servic...

Re: Arcanum

Gog is a subsidiary of CD Projekt (the guys that do The Witcher). They negotiate with the publishers and developers to be a new distribution channel for the games offered. On top of that they take special effort to package the games so that they will run without dickering on XP and Vista. You buy it...

I'd love to play the game, but $60 just isn't going to happen.
It seems these days digital versions are routinely more than boxed versions, sans the occasional steam 75% off sale. Redonkulous!

Everything on steam is automatically updated upon opening the steam client. You can disable this functionality but I don't know a real good reason why you would want to (I suppose modders or something not wanting an auto moving target).

Re: The first 3 Avernum games

Lots of people also don't like that Jeff started making his games linear with G3 & A4 . . . personally, I prefer the linearity. Agree'd, while I do miss the "grander" feel of A1-3, I find the pacing on his more recent games much much better than his older games. In my old age (of 27) ...

Re: The first 3 Avernum games

I preferred the A1-3 engine myself. I found them to feel more vast/epic/organic even with the graphical deficiencies. Maybe it's the console tamer in me but I like the separate maps for towns and overworld.
