Actually, official patch has the same problem too. Although the solution is easy and fast, this issue might be a big problem for newcomers. Moreover, I think it hurts the Vista compatibility.

Is there a feasible way to fix this issue completely?

Re: patch 1.04 all save games gone

I installed the patch 1.04 now all my save slots says EMPTY! *cry* From the Patch 1.04 BETA topic: Please be aware: The "My Document" fix may actually cause some problems for people whose Documents are not actually called "My Documents". If the game doesn't see "My Document...

I've discovered something. It seems that Live CD version doesn't use GFX drivers. This should cause all of my issues(graphical glitches and performance).

-Two of the systems with known ATI video hardware exhibited problems. In BW's case, slow, and in Chestah's case, full screen trouble and button clicking problems. I was assuming by his comments that Kxc(who experienced graphical problems) was using ATI hardware as well, but please correct me if I a...

When you meet an enemy, you zoom in to a combat map that duplicates, close-up, the map you were just on. So if you were in a cave corridor, the new map would be recognizable as the same corridor, only 8x wider. Then you choose where to place your party members and they all appear. It sounds very JR...

3d applications(or 2d applications that use opengl for rendering) generally run very slow on linux systems with ATI video cards. At least it was the case 2 years ago. Apparently, same problem still remains. Can you use another rendering option? SDL surface maybe?

My test machine is well within what should be the minimum specs and it is too slow for me to enjoy, even with 16-bit color enabled. I'm going to try some different video drivers. I checked again a...

Work fine under Ubuntu 7.04. Just one problem: tile boundaries are visible as if there are tiny gaps between the tiles.
