Re: Kickstarter game. Balrum similar to Eschalon.

The failed game is a bit off topic, however I thought it was worth mentioning it's still getting printed, just not by the person who promised it. http://keith-baker.com/cryptozoic-saves-doom/ Luckily for me, all of my backed games have either delivered, or will. (Only two pending, one of which is sh...

Re: Error message: "no bars"

No bars doesn't mean anything to me really, however, I don't see libstc++.so.5, install that library (32bit of course) and try again?

Edit:

Scratch that, It's not in my list either. Thought Eschalon needed it. ldd matches mine (With exception to video card differences).

Re: Anyone have any problem with...

I would be in the group that wants things to be more challenging, but I would still say no to these. I am very much a min/max style player. If there is a way to exploit something to make my character more powerful, I'll find it and use it. Forcing diversity would be a good way to make the game a bit...

Only if they are still in your inventory when you go to turn it in. Oddly, you can take them all, sell/stash them, with no consequence.

Re: Favorite moment in the Eschalon series?

Westwillow (I really liked this one), The currupt priest sidequest (book 1), Lycanthrope quest. Also things like the necromancers shrine in book 2. Stuff out the in the middle of nowhere to find. Also there's nothing like those "oh crap" moments to remind you to save often. SPOILER ALERT! ...

Also neutral, at least somewhat.

I don't like the idea of bypassing one of the games original features, but it seems popular, and I won't be using the option.

Re: nobody is going to like this camping suggestion...

Part of me really likes the original idea, but I'm also a fan of survival sims, which Eschalon isn't. The idea of items giving a small passive boost to skills just for being in your inventory(Such as a tent) sounds appealing if possible. Would require that the boost be limited the boost to 1 of each...

Re: Wishes for Book III

3. Combat mage are too strong, comparing with other characters. They do more damage than pure STR-based characters. I think, you know about it) I just hope, that characters will be more balanced in Book III. I beg to differ on this point. I would say that pure mage is the most difficult build in th...

Re: Run too fast

Assuming all drivers are up to date:

Try enabling vsync?

If you're using a Nvidia GPU, I think the command is nvidia-settings, and poke around looking for vertical sync.

If ATI, it's amdcccle, 3d settings--->More settings and slide the bar to always on.

Re: Arthur, level 1 melee.

Would frequent camping + high Foraging skill be a significant exploit for this kind of character? Yes. Pretty sure over the course of that play through I generated over 100k gold via foraging. For Book III, we are playing around with the idea of foraging working only while moving - as you travel, y...

Re: Arthur, level 1 melee.

My suspicion comes from this: super weapons can increase damage, but do less for your ToHit score. Without advancements to your Attributes or Skills, I don't know how you would have maintained a ToHit score high enough to successfully hit some of the higher creatures. Actually his damage was abysma...

Re: Arthur, level 1 melee.

Good job! While I don't think I could ever play through entirely as level one, but I have considered attempting the lowest possible score. Haven't gotten around to that though. I may attempt that also, at some point. For now though, I've recently purchased Avadon: The black fortress. Have a feeling...

Arthur, level 1 melee.

I read a post where it had been done with a mage, so I figured I'd give melee a shot. Think I forgot to do "Shortest. Quest. Ever." (Also, "p" in game would not give me a screen shot of the scoreboard, so, you're stuck with this. :P ) http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t608/Fira...

Re: Critique of Eschalon - Learning Cliffs, and real strateg

First post. Huzzah. Anyhow, I'm going to answer the simpler question: What was fun about Eschalon to you(me)? I enjoyed the "learning cliff". After several failed attempts at making a decent character I had a better understanding of the game, figuring those things out without using the for...
