Do it the way many of the early CRPG did it (Including Ultima Exodus, I believe) And that is to say, make it so that lack of food doesn't HURT you, but just prevents you from regenerating health points throguh inactivity/rest. Many old CRPGs did this. If you didn't have food, you didn't slowly die.....

The shame is that this is the naked truth! We may never seen a game like Fallout again....*sigh* Damn mass-market! I cant wait to play Eschalon :) That's exactly why I have *quit* PC Gaming. I would prefer to play games like Eschalon, dungeon Delvers, or even (the now old) Devil Whiskey. Simply put...

I had the privelidge of actually seeing the intro and start of the game in the Basilisk Wrangler's own lair. You guys won't be dissapointed. The interface is clean and easy to use, the game is very user friendly and the graphics, sound and lighting are fantastic. This game looks like something you ...

I don't have much faith in FO3. Bethesda screwed up the Elder Scrolls series with Morrowind, then further diluted it with Oblivion. I don't expect them to stay true to FO hardcore roots. Instead, I expect a mainstream title with real time combat, no challenge, and a focus on graphics over gameplay. ...
I had roughly the same experience as Saxon. I'm a huge fan of the first two (Still play them) but the 3rd was a bit messy. I play gothic 3 off and on now, but I don't care for the dumbed-down combat. (dumbed down when you compare it to the previous 2 gothics, anyway) I remember fighting that Demon w...

Two things: With that being said, I know of another small indie game being worked on that you might want to check out: http://www.crosscutgames.com/ddfaq.html I was one of those cranky old folk gamers who hated it too. I looked down on BG and the infinity engine games the same way a fan of Mozart wo...

everywhere I go, I either give out this website URL on a piece of scrap paper to likeminded CRPG fans, or post the link to this website on gaming forums. I really love what I'm seeing here, and in my heart of hearts, believe that games like this are the future of the PC RPG genre. Because, lord know...

Divine Divinity starts off like a Diablo clone, but about 5 hours in, becomes an Ultima 7 clone. I used to champion this game on the web boards back when it came out, encouraging people to stick with it. Because of that, a lot of people ended up liking it (On the GameFAQS boards anyway, heh...) and ...

Hmmm, this is my forte!!! I could bore you with a long list, but I'm just going to focus on one game: Realms of the Haunting. (1997, Interplay) This game had suffered the worst fate ever: coming out a couple months after Diablo. Because of that, it was D.O.A. I don't know if you could call it an RPG...

Ditto on the anachronox Comment Mith made. I loved it. Anachronox was like a PC version of the SNES Chrono Trigger with betetr writing and characterization. Turned a friend on to it and he searched ebay for two years trying to find a copy. (He finally found one last week, oddly enough) It's a shame ...
