Re: [SPOILERS] Pacifist challenge update
That is impressive, completing the game with 0 kills. Congratulations! As I said, I'm very impressed with it even being possible to do. More so because it's a viable first-playthrough option. You don't need previous knowledge of the game or a specific min/maxed character to do it, all you have to d...

[SPOILERS] Pacifist challenge update
I finally finished the game; here's an update on the pacifist challenge. "20 kills" was really an arbitrary number. I just set it up like that, and never changed it. If it turns out that less that 20 is extremely easy to do, I can certainly adjust that challenge for future versions. It tur...

Re: What do you like best about Book II?
I thought of something else that's fun in Book II, the subtle little jokes. Things like when you find the empty house on the edge of the frozen lake, you feel like somebody is watching you. So, what book do you find on the nightstand? The Orakur Are Watching! Not to mention the invisibility potion ...

A question concerning the Mayor and Prospector [spoilers]
I decided to try to play a pacifist (along with some other challenges) thief character on hardcore difficulty, making the least possible number of kills while finishing as many quests as possible (this is actually almost necessary, as I get no combat experience). So far, I have finished 20 quests (I...

Re: True healer challenge [SPOILER]
Thanks for the reply, BW. Now it indeed makes sense, although I still think it would bear an extra line in the true healer challenge description to make it more clear to the uninitiated (or maybe I just wasn't far enough in the game to understand that Sparrow's crossing over to the dark side was a &...

Re: True healer challenge [SPOILER]
Sparrow is done deliberately that way to make a major game challenge. I searched the forums before posting this as a bug and I have to say I disagree with the implementation. Rather than "a major game challenge", it feels merely counter-intuitive and illogical. A better way, I think, to k...

Re: I NEED *YOUR* HELP!
Here's my shot at a rogue character, plus an explanation of the choices I made. I wanted to make a character build that would encourage a distinct "thief" style of play. A hybrid build would probably be more beginner-friendly, while a veteran Eschalon player would probably go for even narr...

"20 kills" was really an arbitrary number. I just set it up like that, and never changed it. If it turns out that less that 20 is extremely easy to do, I can certainly adjust that challenge for future versions. I see. I was basically curious about the number of kills that are absolutely n...

The pacifist challenge question
I'm trying out a true thief/untouchable/pacifist build with all the optional rules turned on and while it has been (predictably) quite a challenge so far, it is also really fun, as you have to figure out alternate solutions that help you evade combat (and so far, such options have always been there)...

I've been mostly offline for the holidays and stumbled across this thread only now, so this comes really late -- but happy birthday, Thomas!

Great news. Take as much time as you need and good luck on the rest of development.

Linux/Firefox, everything seems to be working ok. Nice design, too.

The Walls of Bratock (indie RPG from 1994)
I recently remembered a true old-school indie RPG (vaguely reminiscent of -- and most probably heavily inspired by -- the Ultima series circa IV-V) that hooked me for hours back in the day. It was called "The Walls of Bratock", released as shareware (full game minus some extra goodies whic...

Re: Registration the way others do it...?
BW: I think either way is OK; I personally find full game unlockable by a serial number slightly preferable (especially if it means less hassle for you and the key is delivered immediately on purchase) -- that is to say IF I were intending to try before I buy (I believe most of us Book I fans are ju...
