Re: Eye of the Beholder

Just started playing this game as well - very fun, it doesn't hold your hand at all. This takes some getting used to when you've been playing newer games that treat you like you're stupid.

Any advice for a party? Do I need a thief?

Oh, and can't wait for the Basilisk EOB type game.

Re: Book II Announcement?

Another tiny thing: "Play as a male or femal character as you journey across multiple environs. Screenshot above is shown running on MacOS 10.4" "femal[e]" Anyway, I'm excited to see this announcement, it's great to have dedicated and talented independent RPG studios...keep up th...

Personally I prefer quest based XP, which allows you to go through a quest how you want and not just hit on things for experience. However, it sounds like you can get a lot of XP just from quests so I'm happy.

I think words that describe a particular people are some of the most obvious so I think taking them out is a good idea. I also think Demon Oil sounds cool so good job  All the terms I mentioned were the names of particular groups of people (and one nation). Althought you're right, Demon Oil do...

I think it's fine to keep "greek fire". If you're going to have vandals, thugs, assassins, china, etc., why not greek fire?

I was playhing Blades of Exile, recently released for free (check it out), and they have a pretty good way of handling it. You eat food as time passes, but you normally have more than you need. However, if you are resting all the time or just wandering around, your food supply will go down and you w...

Hmm...what do you think of combining these posts into one long Q&A? It might make it easier than having people go through 19 pages. I'm not sure if anyone on this board has the time for it right now; if things ever slow down, I wouldn't mind doing it, but that's a big "if" at the momen...

I actually like this better. I don't like skills like charisma that just serve to add "the good option", which you normally take because it's better than the rest. Also...any thoughts on also occasionally having checks for other attributes(for instance strength to intimidate someone, show ...

Could you be more specific? Pretty much, what can you do besides the "kill monsters, talk to people, get loot". Like it looks like you can bash open doors in the screenshots (and I think this has been mentioned). Are there objects you can manipulate and the like? Things in dungeons beside...

Hey, do you think that the next game will come out much quicker, now that you have an engine and know what to do? Or it will take about the same amount of time?

By the way, take all the time you want...a good game is always better than a half-baked one rushed out the door.

I imagine a lot of the concern is over how it would be implemented. I think if there was some sort of Oregon Trail style hunting, there might not be as much hostility to the idea (and if you weren't getting hungry all the time, though in ADOM it's not too bad).

Looking real good, I'm digging the way this is progressing. One question though: does greek fire do damage over time or area of effect damage?

3) Level 100 is the cap, but there's no way you'll reach that in Book I. That's way out there. Any creatures hidden around in Book I that we're not supposed to be able to defeat? IE, some demons hidden in the deepest depths of dungeons that will probably kill us off the bat in Book 1 (except for th...

An unbeatable opponent is an interesting idea. Unbeatable at least in combat, at any rate. Having an opponent that is utterly indefeatable on every level could be frustrating, but having an opponent that cannot be bested in combat is an idea I like. This would force a player to look for other ways ...
