I tried moving my ~/Library/Application Support/Basilisk Games directory out of the way to make sure there wasn't some cache issue causing problems. That didn't help. I just updated my iMac (the oldest machine that can handle the current OS) and I'll fire up 3 to see if I have a similar crash. I'll let you know, BW. Above is the topic SpottedShroom is referring to. It affects only the waterskin you start with in your home. It should have been fixed so be sure you have the most up-to-date version of the game.
