Re: How much lore skill?
Any merchant will identify items for a price if you right-click on it. The cost is related to the value of the item.

Re: Book III Mod: Alchemist's Tower in Moonrise
I just tested the mod again with a level 11 fighter/alchemist with absolutely no spells. I found most of it possible, albeit difficult, and a few parts utterly impossible. It took a fair amount of resting and healing, and some of the battles required careful strategy. I also made full use of the det...

Re: Book III Mod: Alchemist's Tower in Moonrise
I tested it with a level 18 nefarious mage with 31 points in elemental, and also decent divination and melee skills. I got through without serious trouble, but since I developed the mod, I know what the hazards are, so it's probably easier for me than for someone else. I did have to rest up and reco...

Re: Book III Mod: Alchemist's Tower in Moonrise
Well, now I know where to go for my potions needs! And I enjoyed the presence of a little herb garden upstairs. Also, I thought the 7! clue was great. *laughs* I wondered what people would make of the 7! clue. I didn't think it would be too hard to figure out, but it's probably not the first thing ...

Re: Book III Mod: Alchemist's Tower in Moonrise
Only downside I would say is that maybe you over did it with all the poisoned / trapped/ diseased containers and doors I have been considering whether to rebalance this a bit. I wanted this place to be horribly polluted and dangerous, as would be expected of a mad alchemist's tower, so I put a lot ...

Re: Divine magic much more useful than Elemental?
I found a portal scroll in a shop, so it is definitely still available. Once I found it, I made full use of it. In previous games, and in this one, I have always developed both forms of magic, at least to a point. In my first complete play-through of Book III, I played a mage character (starting wit...

Re: Book III Mod: Alchemist's Tower in Moonrise
In Old Moonrise, it isn't the headstone that needs to be blown up, but another object in that small crypt. A mostly hidden fence blocks access to the nook at the far end of the crypt. Dropping a powder keg in front of it will do the trick. If you don't have one, I have placed a powder keg near the h...

Re: Book III Mod: Alchemist's Tower in Moonrise
Somehow, while I was developing the mod, a later version of Moonrise's entity file (which holds the NPCs and monsters) got copied into the mod, so one NPC is missing and the others might not be at their initial state. (Edit: This bug is now fixed. Anyone who downloaded Version 1.0 and has already st...

Re: Blue Meanies (Nidiara?)
If you have divination in your repertoire of magic, fleshboil works on them. Hacking at them with melee weapons works too, but they aren't easy to kill. I haven't tried fireball on them, but I suspect that will work too.

Book III Mod: Alchemist's Tower in Moonrise (update 4/11/14)
I have just completed a mod for Book III. It adds an abandoned alchemist's tower to the Moonrise map. The tower features the ground floor (part of the Moonrise map), four upper levels, and a cellar which is larger than the above-ground levels. This mod features a lot of loot (but not all of it usefu...

Re: Wanted Mods List
The scripting system is quite versatile. I've played with it in Book II (although I haven't completed a mod for that game), and I'm using it extensively in the Book III mod I'm working on now. One must be careful, however. It is possible to make mistakes that cause the game to crash.

Re: Wanted Mods List
All of these look like good possibilities. Once people get going on mods, it would be nice if a few of us could coordinate our efforts to some degree; that way, we could package groups of compatible mods together. I imagine that most potential modders will wait for the official tools, but some, like...

Re: Book III Character and Map Editor
I have started creating a mod, and it is generally working out. However, when I add new monsters and save the map, the program crashes when I try to load it again. Considering that the game hasn't been out very long, and there hasn't been much time to work on the editor, I wouldn't expect everything...

Re: Book III Character and Map Editor
Thanks. I will give it a try. I've played around with the editor on Book II, and it seems easy to use. Since Book III is somewhat lacking in side dungeons, maybe I'll try to create a modest one and see how it works out.

Re: General Thoughts on Book III, So Far (some SPOILERS)
I also agree that a mage build is easy. I found the ice lance scroll that was mentioned earlier, and I also got lucky and found an invisibility scroll somewhere. Ultimately, my character had elemental trained up to 31, and I combined this with divination of 11 to gain access to numerous useful spell...
