Eventually, probably, yeah, once the game engine itself supports modding the appropriate files. It's probably a ways off at this point, but we'll see.

I'm guessing that the game would load the original areas from datapak first, then if a modded original existed in the Mod directory it would overwrite that it. Yeah, something like that will come. Although actually, since the editor is being elevated to "officially endorsed" status, I suppose there's probably no reason why we couldn't actually distribute graphic assets in the editor itself, once the game engine becomes capable of taking advantage of that. I'll be sure to bring that up with BW...

Since it reads from the datapak, shouldn't we be able to open the original maps? Yeah - I actually just responded in the other thread, but to summarize here: a future version of the editor (probably 1.1.0) will probably let you load a map from the datapak. At the moment there's nothing actually-use...

xolotl's editor has official approval to decrypt the datapak in order to display graphics from the game, but as far as I know no one else does. In preparation for future modding support, btw, I am planning on adding a feature to the editing tools which will let you open a "global" map file directly...

One thing to keep in mind for mid-game upgrades: if you've already visited a map which contains some bugfixes, then your game will not include those bugfixes. One more thing which might help here, btw... If you right-click anything in the chooser dialog, you'll see an "Add to Bookmarks" option. "Load from Savegames" is there and opens to the correct directory and shows the slots. It does not, however show an additional directory I have in there for storage. Hm, what's your other directory called? Right now that dialog does look for directories named "slot*", but I suppose there's probably...
