Re: Re-download?

BW, I recommend continuing to build against older versions so that your game is supported on older distros. Not everyone who runs Linux stays up to date with the latest/greatest. Games built against older libs will still work on newer distros. I wrote a series of articles on commercial Linux game de...

Re: October/November Update

Thanks for the update! I'm eagerly looking forward to it, but as others have said, I would rather have a good solid game than a hastily finished one. The ending for Book 1 felt hastily done. I'd rather wait a little and have more content and a more satisfying ending in Book 2!

The Three Musketeers

Yesterday I published a new RPG from a new indie developer, Dingo Games: "The Three Musketeers: The Game". You can find it on my web site here: http://www.mygamecompany.com/Products/Other/threemusketeers.htm This game is a pretty faithful adaptation of the original novel by Alexandre Dumas, which is...

Re: Excellent game!

Just finished the game! I'm a bit bummed that the Goblin Citadel wasn't larger. I didn't expect to run into Gramuk so soon. But a satisfying game, nonetheless. I'm also bummed I didn't get a chance to spend all that goblin booty! haha I hope we get to carry some of it forward into Book 2, and not st...

Re: Excellent game!

I've finished writing my review of Eschalon: Book 1. If anyone is interested in reading it, you'll find it on my web site here: http://www.mygamecompany.com/Reviews/eschalonbook1.htm I'm really enjoying this game. Still not done yet. Might be getting close. I've got 3 of the 4 goblin keys, and am lo...

Re: Eschalon for Mac Crashes

Yesterday, I experienced a crash on the screen just east of Blackwater. I was moving east near the bottom of the map, just past the intersection where the road angles southwest to Loneloft. I'm running v1.5 on my Mac Pro with OSX 10.5.8. I didn't lose too much progress since I save pretty often. Whe...

Re: What we're working on today...

The first build of this new system, on Monday, had automatic Feats that were based on a chance of occurrence. It worked well enough, but it lacked strategy because you could not choose to use the Feat when you needed it. There is no greater frustration than to have a "Critical Pummel" used on a les...

Re: What we're working on today...

Feats begin once you hit skill level 10. At level 10, you can use a Feat about once every 100 rounds. Wait a minute, I thought the feats were automatic. I thought "automatic" meant that it would happen randomly rather than me choosing to use it. For example, you strike at an enemy, and there's a ce...

Ahh... ok. Thanks!

I thought I had tried that... but obviously not. The blacksmith in Blackwater just identified it for me! Sweet sword!!!

Re: How to identify items?

Thanks! I was hoping there was a vendor somewhere that I could pay to identify the item for me. Which vendors can identify items? So far, everyone I've visited in Aridell or Bordertown either say they're not interested in such merchandise or that they're not very interested in the item but they'll b...

How to identify items?

I need a hint. I'm sure this question has been asked a hundred times, but I searched and still couldn't find a suitable answer. I've got an unidentified sword that I found in this house in a locked chest. I've also got a big green gem that I found in the bee cave that is unidentified. I'm playing as...

Excellent game!

Just wanted to pop in and say "kudos" to the developer for this great game! I played the Book 1 demo back in April, and enjoyed it so much I signed up as an affiliate and featured it on my web site. I know I've generated a at least a few sales for you! I also wrote a brief review in our newsletter t...
