Re: Heros of Might and Magic?

Strange, Heroes Of Might and Magic III is still the most popular one of the series.

It's like Final Fantasy 7, it's the first one many played. Doesn't make it the best, but the one most people discovered the series with (it's just nostalgia).

I don't know all communities, but the only ones I see ...

Funny, that's pretty much the one I liked least.
No innovation, constant useless upgrades, too much magic imbalance, and that's the homm where the graphics lost there "fairy tale" touch.

Re: Heros of Might and Magic?

There is a native Mac version for Heroes5. No idea of how well it runs.

I would advise you to buy ToE (Tribes of the East), which is the last expansion of the game, and can be run as a stand-alone. There is a mod (with official support from Ubisoft I believe) so you may play the campains from H5 ...

Re: How do you run the program

Can you open a shell, and run the game through the command-line ?

Code: Select all

#cd /wherever/the/game/is
#./eschalon_book_1
And if the game doesn't start, can you copy/paste whatever is displayed in shell (providing eschalon_book_1 is the binary name)?

Shift + Attack if I remember well.

It's the same key you use too bash doors or locks.

Re: Thinking about starting with Eschalon - Few Questions

Many of us like the skill system for what it is. Very old fashioned :) Like the story.

Remember the game is mostly made by one person, so I guess there are limits to what can be done.

Re: Dodge-the forgotten defense

Well made and well adjusted, an armor doesn't impede movement. But it gets tiring very quickly if you don't train (it's heavy), so once you are tired, you can't dodge as well.

So armor were made for mobility, providing you have lots of muscles to carry it.
It's like carrying lead weights.

You may also sleep in a tavern, they feed you in the process (but it costs gold).

I'd still say try the demo :)

Games now don't bother much with demos, so when they do, use it.

Re: Heroes of M&M 6

Well, I was in the beta, and I didn't play it till the end of the beta (which is impressive by itself, as I own episode 2 to 5, by rights I should have lost my girlfriend because of the game).

Basically, gameplay has been mainstreamed. They added a lot of new stuff, but many of those just make the ...

And this time they are straying somewhat away from their usual stuff. There seem to be quite side quests and a rpg component quite unusual for Id Software.

Re: Core temperature

You can buy an air compressor for about 10$.

Then just put it on next to the air fan, and watch the dust flow out (carefull, I choke a few times because of that).

Re: Core temperature

If it's a laptop you are using, no need to stress before your cores reach 80°C.

And they should be able to handle more than 90°C.

Have you cleaned your laptop lately ? I won 10°C using a compressed air bottle (or whatever it's called).
