I was able to find most of the old Might & Magics on abandonware sites. The Xeen series has a style that you're either going to love or hate...there's no in-between.

RPGs that influenced me the most...

Ultima 2 through 7, and Underworld 1 and 2.
Might and Magic 3, 4, 5 (the Xeen series!)
Dungeon Master (played but didn't really like the second one).
Eye of the Beholder I and II, and Lands of Lore (Westwood Studio's RPGs).
Elder Scrolls: Arena and Daggerfall ...

[edit] Oh yeah, and Wizardry 7 ...

Gallifrey: Should money have weight? In the perfect RPG, yes ! I seriously thought about calculating the weight of your carried gold, but scrapped the idea early on because I knew it would lead to a headache for most players.

Of course, the perfect game also has banks to deposit your gold into so ...

Don't worry... it's not going to happen. It was just a humorous story. My friend just has a wild imagination.

Hey Greg, I know Myles too! :) He was pitching his ideas to make a commercial for the game...something about making an "old-school commercial for an old-school RPG". He wanted to shoot it like an 80's commercial with some geek sitting at a clunky old PC, and a voice-over saying "Eschalon! Available ...

GhanBuriGhan: those are some cool ideas. Noted!

I also want to tell everyone that we are writing down all your suggestions and archiving them for future reference. We won't be able to get all these great suggestions into Book I, but with Book II and III in the pre-dev stage it is a great time to be ...

Thanks for all the comments, and keep them coming!

If we were to implement food/water in the game, it would be done like this: death from starvation would be nearly impossible unless you are trying to die by that method. First, your hunger/thirst meter would run low. You'd notice that you don't ...

I personally enjoyed Diablo/Diablo II quite a bit, although I would barely call them RPGs. Still, I would say the series is one of the more enjoyable "Action pseudo-RPGs" ever made...and I don't like Action pseudo-RPGs.

The look of the forum will improve over time. It's not a huge priority right now because we have a few important deadlines coming up, but I will be looking into visual improvements soon.

Okay, so it's not so hard after all to move a topic to a different forum when you're refreshed from 8 hours of sleep...however, trying to do it for the first time after 15 straight hours of work- now that's a different story.

OOPS!! Interface and Cartography discussion....

Um, I messed up! I meant to move the topic regarding the interface and Cartography skill to the "General Game Chat" forum...which I thought I did...but it appears I deleted the topic instead. Mark that one up on my rookie phpBB2 skillz.

Please, if anyone has any comments regarding the ...

We have had literally a hundred requests from people wanting to help test the game, and I apologize to anyone that has been waiting on a response from us. The reaction we’ve gotten on this project is incredible and it has been very hard to keep on top of ...
