Yeah, the general consensus is that Hide in Shadows was good to be the point of being unbalanced in Book I and basically useless in Book II/III. I remember using the character editor to give myself ranks of it to try to test its effectiveness and just giving up.

You don't need bow skill to use a bow, do you? You ought to be able to hit a lever even if you have no idea what you're doing. There are also various thrown weapons you could use.

I always assumed Eschalon's exploding barrels were inspired by the ones in Ultima 6. They were incredibly useful there, mainly for blowing doors off their hinges.

Yes, Poltergeists have the best resistances of any entity in Book I. They resist 100% of elemental attacks, in addition to toxins and disease. Pure magick attacks like Compress Atmosphere and Fleshboil will work 80% of the time, though.

Hm. Worked fine for me. I just let the game make me a new eschalon_b1_saved_games directory, then copied your files into one of the slots, and it loaded right up. 1. Shield skill just lets you use shields without a penalty until level 11, when it starts providing a chance to deflect missiles. I'd rather spend the skill on Elemental and get Dense Nimbus. 2. It sounds like you've somehow messed up the slot1 directory. Have you tried removing it?

Rather than using the save file editor, I would suggest (after backing up your save, of course) removing her map from your save directory. Then next time you enter that map it will be recreated automatically from scratch. Oh, and make sure you're not on that map when you save.

Hm. Erubor is supposed to be there, yes, but his quest is entirely optional. It directs you to the wizard tower on the river west of Port Kuudad. You can still explore it, even if you don't get the XP.
