Re: Cannot run of fedora 64bit

I believe you need to install 32 bit glibc. Try:

Code: Select all

yum install glibc.i686

Re: Eschalon: Book II 1up Review

I had to haul four kegs up from the well behind the temple in Eastwillow to destroy the nest in one shot. That also makes you miss out on the dragonells that come out of the next as you're whacking away at it. I wonder if there's a set number of those, or if it's one per N number of attacks?

Re: Unreachable Zones

I can kind of see this both ways. The cliche fence/trees/whatever that block travel is so used in modern games that I think most people expect it. I actually think it breaks suspension of disbelief less to have the way be open in a direction where it wouldn't make sense to have a barrier, and just e...

Re: Is Book II Easy or Hard??

Merchant does seem to be a legit build strategy, but I think most people don't play that way because they find it less fun than killing baddies and taking their stuff. I haven't tried it myself yet, but I imagine it wouldn't be any easier than, say, a high-perception mage build. That said, I wonder ...

Re: Can not enter Westwillow

I had an idea for how to work around this issue. I think it should even work for people who have already visited the map in question without having to reset the map. Since the problem is with case sensitivity, it should be possible to work around it by running Book II from a case-insensitive filesys...

Re: Axioms - Why they are great, and what more we want

There are certainly balance issues that make some axioms "better" than others. Some of the benefits are weak and/or short-term, while the drawbacks are almost all long-term. I find it interesting how your choice of axiom impacts your starting skill. I'm playing a melee fighter now and got ...

I'm so tough I don't have to eat (build spoilers)

I'm working on my second play through, this time as a melee fighter. Since weapon skills improve combat ability faster than stat increases, I've been spending all my stat points on Endurance. I now gain one HP per turn, which is great for staying alive during fights, but also has some unusual conseq...

There's always the possibility of using click and hold. Several Mac apps use that as a substitute for right-click.

Re: Enemy Armor and ToHit Rates

Indeed, this is great info. Might I ask how you came up with it? Also, has anyone thought much about efficiency of armor vs. dodge? Given the revelation posted elsewhere that DR is just the percent chance to take half damage, I can't see putting many points into armor skills. On the other hand, I be...

Re: The Orakur are WHAT?! (spoils)

Yeah, I know what you mean. I don't really like mixing sci-fi with my fantasy genres. That said, it was at least a pretty minor part of Book II - yes, the whole plot revolves around The One and the Orakur, but you really only get one "grey" NPC, two computers to destroy, and a cut scene, a...

Re: Attack spell stats (spell list spoiler)

Huh. Yeah, go figure. I've seen at least one other person say the same thing, so I'll take you guys' word for it. Come to think of it, I'm not positive about some of the other types, either. I used Mass Boil against a bunch of creatures that ought to resist magic according to Slarty's list and none ...

Re: Eschalon info wiki

True, compiling this would be a lot of effort, but I think it would be less than making a text file and keeping it up to date. With a wiki, everybody would be free to pitch in and make corrections/additions. The hypertext features would also be helpful. Randomizer's Strategy Central topic is really ...

Eschalon info wiki

There's lot of great info about the games scattered around this message board, but a lot of it is hard to find. I'd love to work on setting up an organized source of information, and I think a wiki would be ideal. So, a few questions: 1. BasiliskWrangler, do you have any interest in hosting an offic...

Re: Spell Quota

I've been thinking about something like this, too. My mage always has Reveal Map up, and often has Gravedigger's Flame and Cat's Eyes up as well. It's not a big deal to prepare the spell from a hotkey when it runs out and re-cast it, but maybe we can do better :) I can see two possible ways to do it...

Re: Attack spell stats (spell list spoiler)

That's the tier of spell - tier one costs 9 MP to cast at level 6, tier two 29, tier three 39.
