Re: The State of the Basilisk, Summer 2017

Great to hear the RPG is coming along. I can't wait to play it! Maybe you'll need testers soon? I'll not need outside testers for a little while, but I might benefit from some very early (alpha) play testing, just to get some reaction from you core fans. This would entail UI testing and feedback on...

One question - is this to be a stand-alone game or a series of books like Eschalon?
There is definitely a storyline that could continue past where the game ends, but I am not promising anything until I see how well it does financially.

The State of the Basilisk, Summer 2017

The State of the Basilisk, Summer 2017 Just a quick update to let everyone know what were doing (this is so much easier than answering individual emails and messages). We are currently working on our Next RPG. Maybe you haven't heard, but we're making a sci-fi RPG and it's coming along splendidly. ...

Re: A few thoughts from my latest play through

The white squares issue was definitely a problem with BlitzMax's OpenGL driver, the last time I addressed it. That's likely to be the case again, and possibly no way to ever correct it unfortunately. BlitzMax is dead. X_x

Re: A few thoughts from my latest play through

I started a replay of Book 1 a couple of weeks ago. Decided to make it challenging by using no magic and making my distance attack Thrown weapons. However, I play on a Mac. The maps covered in white squares is just too painful, so I dropped the idea. I think you've complained about this in the past...

Re: A few thoughts from my latest play through

Great post, 'shroom! I can't tell you how good it makes me feel to know people still play Book 1 and get enjoyment out of it.

Re: Birthday!

Blissful belated birthday, Blatherbeard!

We have one month left in our "Summer Crunch" coding session. I'll do a "State of the Basilisk" address in late August to share where we are at with our games.

Re: Anyone ever notice the car horns in the background sounds of birds?

Haha, I've never heard that! Many of the sound effects came from Sound Effect CD collections. There are only a handful that I recorded myself. The birds definitely came from the sound effect collection, because I was living in downtown Indianapolis during that development and there was nowhere I cou...

Well darn - I love isometric, but that's just a personal preference. Is it turn-based?
Absolutely. It feels a lot like Eschalon, but in a new perspective. I think you'll like it.

Re: Pillars of Eternity II swipe from Eschalon ;-)

Speaking of Eschalon, remind me again why I cant get it on android? Eschalon was made with BlitzMax. It was a great development platform...in 2005. They never expanded the support to include consoles or mobile devices. We've moved on to Unity which does has support for all kinds of devices and plat...

Re: Pillars of Eternity II swipe from Eschalon ;-)

Isn't there exploding barrels in Doom? I seem to remember there were. Edit: In fact, let's be honest, people love explosions so much, they jump at any opportunity to include them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5V65dtKOk2Y  Of course! My reaction was really a goof on them- they sounded a bit ...

Re: Pillars of Eternity II swipe from Eschalon ;-)

Hmm, yes those exploding barrels are cutting edge, Obsidian. You need to give a raise to whomever came up with that one.

There's a lot of new role-playing concepts in our upcoming SciFi RPG that Obsidian may be interested in swiping.

Re: Book 1 expansion?

Book 1 expansion will not happen. We don't support that engine anymore.

We are currently working on a sci-fi RPG, and we may revisit world of Eschalon in the future, but there will be no further development on Book 1/2/3.
