Re: Pillars of Eternity II swipe from Eschalon ;-)

Speaking of Eschalon, remind me again why I cant get it on android? Eschalon was made with BlitzMax. It was a great development platform...in 2005. They never expanded the support to include consoles or mobile devices. We've moved on to Unity which does has support for all kinds of devices and plat...

Re: Pillars of Eternity II swipe from Eschalon ;-)

Isn't there exploding barrels in Doom? I seem to remember there were. Edit: In fact, let's be honest, people love explosions so much, they jump at any opportunity to include them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5V65dtKOk2Y  Of course! My reaction was really a goof on them- they sounded a bit ...

Re: Pillars of Eternity II swipe from Eschalon ;-)

Hmm, yes those exploding barrels are cutting edge, Obsidian. You need to give a raise to whomever came up with that one.

There's a lot of new role-playing concepts in our upcoming SciFi RPG that Obsidian may be interested in swiping.

Re: Book 1 expansion?

Book 1 expansion will not happen. We don't support that engine anymore.

We are currently working on a sci-fi RPG, and we may revisit world of Eschalon in the future, but there will be no further development on Book 1/2/3.

Thank you for this. I haven't tested it myself, but I am going to make this post sticky.

A tiny update

I'm not sure why, but in the past 2 weeks I've gotten a flurry of messages asking for an update. I figured I could drop a quick note here and reach more people. Lately my attention has been more on The Next RPG rather than Zodiac . I guess that is the benefit of being truly independent- I can work o...

Do you know if it's helpful to send these to the staff, or am I wasting their time?
I mean, if there are no plans to ever patch these, maybe I shouldn't annoy them. =/
At this point we have no plans to update the Eschalon games anymore, even if they become incompatible with modern hardware.

Thank you. It means a LOT to hear that people are still playing and enjoying Eschalon.

Re: Engine ?

I considered open-sourcing the engine a while back and was strongly advised against doing so, by several sources, for various legal reasons. Many of these reasons are still true. Namely, open sourcing means I lose all control over the software, and it will be impossible to protect the code form bein...

Re: Jack of all trades challenge

I honestly don't remember how the rules were enforced, but I think you need to have those skills above 5 naturally (training or skill point use). Item bonuses do not count. Though I could be wrong. It's been a long time since I've dove that deep into the code.

Re: Welcome to the new Website!

You can no longer get Book I on Steam unless you buy the trilogy edition. Prices have been lowered for the other two games. Steam still having trouble digesting the new changes or is everything as it should be? Hmm...well, it should be listed as free. I wasn't aware that it was completely unavailab...
