Re: Quicksave Error
It sounds like you lost data because of the power failure. If you want to post your save directory, though, I'll see if I can do anything to make it work. I'm not sure where the saved games go in the GOG version - try searching your computer for the eschalon.cfg file. Then zip up that directory, upl...

Great to hear the RPG is coming along. I can't wait to play it! Maybe you'll need testers soon?

Re: A few thoughts from my latest play through
Well, at least it's open source. As soon as you release the Book I source, I'll take a look at fixing it ;)

Re: A few thoughts from my latest play through
For what it's worth, I also had some minor white squares issues on Linux in my last play through. I think I saw it mainly in the Hive Queen's lair.

Re: First time finished as a mage
That's what I do - 6 to start, actually, if you put 5 in then pick your class. I don't even get foraging, figuring I can learn Create Food before I run out of freely available food. But again, I'm sacrificing an easier early game for a stronger late-game character.

The broad outline of the stats and skills is applicable, but the specific trainers and equipment available in Book II are different.

Re: First time finished as a mage
Put all your stat points into Perception except when you need them for Intelligence/Wisdom to learn higher-level spells. I personally don't bother with Unarmed and just wait until I have Lock Melt. Depends on whether you want to have an easier time starting out or a stronger character at the end of ...

A few thoughts from my latest play through
It turns out you can imbue unidentified items. I hoped that it might auto-identify them for you when you did, but no such luck. I've long considered Druidic the best axiom, since it gets you to faster HP/MP regeneration rates sooner and the game takes place mostly outside. This play, I noticed that ...

Re: If you achieve Destroyer, post here [spoilers]
For my latest character, I tried to max out armor. I believe that by the end of the game, I had 98% chance to hit everything in the game, and they had a 2% chance to hit me, including the Dirachnid and Spire Guards. In theory I could have got a few extra armor points, too, if I could have found the ...

Re: character editor for mac
Do you know basic UNIX command line? You use "cd" to change directories, and you can type a little bit and then hit tab to auto-complete. If you post some screenshots of what you're doing and where you've put the unpacked program code, then I'll try to help more.

Re: character editor for mac
That's the only editor for Book II and III. It's true there is no current Mac app build, because making them is a royal pain and they have to be updated frequently for compatibility with new version of MacOS. However, it shouldn't be too difficult to run it from the command line. Have you tried the ...

Re: ACCESS VIOLATION after creating a new map (details within for a tl;dr)
Something very weird is going on. It isn't your custom map or the script you're using to reach it - using the same script on an item or a switch, say, works fine. I can also replace 188.map with the contents of one of the other maps in your save game directory and it still doesn't work. Absent an op...

Re: ACCESS VIOLATION after creating a new map (details within for a tl;dr)
Here, try the attached map, and use the following script on an item (or other map) to reach it:
map_port 188; port_to 9535
map_port 188; port_to 9535
