Re: Engine ?
The only way I'm aware of anyone creating mods is by building new maps with xolotl's editor . In Book I/II, you can only make "savegame mods," which are most safely applied just after creating a new character but also give you the ability to make custom items. In Book III, we got official ...

If you post a saved game here, we should be able to tell if it's your save or your game.

Re: Jack of all trades challenge
That's my recollection as well. You need to get the skills on your character sheet, pre-item bonus. Books and trainers definitely work.

Any idea whether it's real-time or turn-based/pauseable while you queue up actions?

Re: The Sanctum: Mod for powerful wizards
Awesome, thanks for the kind words! You're on the right track with "See Remotely," but you need a higher caster level with the spell. I can spoil what it tells you if you want to see the end of the mod, though. If you completed the other rooms, you have the spell you need to complete that ...

Re: No Sound in Lubuntu 16.10
Try this: From the terminal, run "sudo apt install pulseaudio-utils:i386". You'll need to enter your password Now you should have /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pulseaudio/libpulsedsp.so and your padsp should refer to that rather than /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pulseaudio/libpulsedsp.so If you eve...

Re: No Sound in Lubuntu 16.10
Sounds like you're not in the right directory when you run padsp. Try this: 1. Figure out where your eschalon_book_1 executable is. The path will probably start with "/home/<your user>" 2. Run a terminal program 3. At the prompt, type "cd /<path from step 1> and then enter. If all goe...

You say you tried to run padsp. Can you say more about how that didn't work out?

There's an obelisk right in front of the stairwell. You need to put each of the four goblin keys into it.

I believe there's a full list in the PDF manual that ships with the game.

Re: Making money
Definitely try Book II. It's got everything you like from Book I plus a bunch of much-needed fixes and new features. It's also a longer game.
You might also wish to try for the Destroyer ending to Book I :)

Re: Making money
You know, I've never even bothered with non-basic arrows. You can get to such a high to-hit and damage without them it hardly seems necessary. I'd rather spend the money on training or spells.
