Re: What was the first RPG you ever played?
Also very early on: The Valley - Commodore PET (3 of us managed to port it roughly to the C-64), and how could I have forgotten Twin Kingdom Valley?

Save location request
BW, I remember asking you this before, back when EB I came out. Is there any chance that games could be saved inside of the program directory, instead of somewhere within "Documents and Settings"? I`ve always found that keeping Windoze relatively smooth and stable (I did say `relatively`),...

Re: Cool RPG features you want to see again.
Actually I'm not sure this works as a cool old idea but: A modular system, built with all the basic rules in place, a continent with various provinces, but it only starts with one. And you decide as a player which one to buy to explor. Allowing the game to branch out as you play, you buy more provi...

Re: What was the first RPG you ever played?
Hmmm, probably some unnamed text adventure on a valve-based mainframe, back in the 60s. But on a computer I owned, probably Lords of Midnight, then the Ultima series (played Akalabeth after those), then the Gold Box games Pool of Radiance and Champions of Krynn, and another SSI title, Demon`s Winter...

Re: The Best 10 RPGs of all time!
Just got to thinking, a friend of mine had a game called "Goblin City", which appeared to be resident on the hard-drive of a 386 pc he bought decades ago. Sadly, it got deleted, and we never found out where it came from. Never had any joy finding it on the net, or on any BBS`s back in my F...

Re: The Best 10 RPGs of all time!
OK, leaving EB out of the equation, I guess these have had more replays than anything else, might not be in order after the first few: 1) Pool Of Radiance (original Gold Box) think I bought 4 versions of it, C-64, Amiga, and 2 PC collections with it in. (C-64 still sounds the best, really belts out ...

Re: Doesn't run on Ubuntu Jaunty 64b bit
officially for your version via the package manager. The latest stable version probably has glibc2.11 (or at least2.10). Cooker has 2.11. You can download from the mirrors. No, it`s 2.6 on the mirrors. Looks like Mandriva close off after your support period expires (rather interesting reading on th...

Re: Doesn't run on Ubuntu Jaunty 64b bit
[quote="obiwan"]Tyranthraxus, the work around I posted should work on your system as well. Just download a cooker glibc from the mirrors. obiwan, thanks, I did already try that, but ran into some awkward problems. It appears that Mandriva throttle support after a specified time, and the of...

Re: Extraction problem
Thanks Cycy, it`s turned out to be that damn libc dependency, so I`ve joined that thread. Mandriva is stuck at 2,6, might try to find a rep with something closer to 2.11.

Re: Doesn't run on Ubuntu Jaunty 64b bit
This has turned out to be my problem as well. Running Mandriva Power Pack 2008, and the official repositries only go as far as glibc 2.6! Unless it`s recompiled under older gcc, I`m stuffed too, unless one of the unofficial reps carried the higher versions, and I`m loathe to do that, as one of the r...

Re: Extraction problem
Just about to try it under a console.
Seems odd though, the main archive creates the folders that are contained within the hidden zips, almost as if they should be filled with the forbidden goodies.

Extraction problem
Overjoyed that the Linux version is now with us, but it`s not playing fair. I extracted the file, set up some menu links, and clicked - then nothing happened! Think I`ve found the problem, extracting the main file created two further zipped files, called datapak and launchpak. Peeking inside these, ...
