I personally enjoyed Diablo/Diablo II quite a bit, although I would barely call them RPGs. Still, I would say the series is one of the more enjoyable "Action pseudo-RPGs" ever made...and I don't like Action pseudo-RPGs.

The look of the forum will improve over time. It's not a huge priority right now because we have a few important deadlines coming up, but I will be looking into visual improvements soon.

Okay, so it's not so hard after all to move a topic to a different forum when you're refreshed from 8 hours of sleep...however, trying to do it for the first time after 15 straight hours of work- now that's a different story.

OOPS!! Interface and Cartography discussion....

Um, I messed up! I meant to move the topic regarding the interface and Cartography skill to the "General Game Chat" forum...which I thought I did...but it appears I deleted the topic instead. Mark that one up on my rookie phpBB2 skillz. Please, if anyone has any comments rega...

I thought I recognized that groveling! :D We have had literally a hundred requests from people wanting to help test the game, and I apologize to anyone that has been waiting on a response from us. The reaction we’ve gotten on this project is incredible and it has been very hard to keep on top of e...

Eschalon should work on Windows 98SE and later. We've tested it successfully on 98SE, ME, 2000 and XP. 256MB of RAM will probably be the minimum recommended, and we're not sure about CPU speed. No Vista testing has been done yet. Basically, if the free demo runs okay on your system then the full ret...

Poll: Requiring Food and Water in RPGs

Here's an interesting question that came up recently that I thought would make a great poll. What do you think about requiring the player to manually feed and water his on-screen character? Specifically, I'm thinking of the Dungeon Master method where a couple of bar graphs tells you how thirsty and...

Thanks corwin...and much thanks to RPGDot for all the coverage they've already given us. I think it was RPGDot who first discovered our project and announced it to the world. You people rock!

The engine tools probably won't be ready for public use on the first release (Book I), but as the tools evolve through Book II there is a good chance that we will release them so that all of you can make your own maps/scenarios.

We've been asked that before and the simple answer is that it's different in almost every way. It may look similar, but we're not using the Avernum engine (we made this engine ourselves). The RPG ruleset is also ours, originally design to be a pen-and-paper system. Also, Book I is about a single, so...

You're right: we really haven't advertised Eschalon yet so we don't know how big our fan base may potentially be. Mostly we just want to get the game done so that we actually have a product to sell, and then we will start the big PR push. We have a couple promotional ideas in the works, but it’s a...

Sorry, there are currently no plans to produce alternate language versions...unless the game is wildly successful and we can afford to hire someone to do it, or we get an offer from a publisher to handle it. The game will be sold online (downloadable), so you should be able to buy it anywhere in the...
