Re: Bar None
One interesting system i recall was one where you could convert money at a 1-to-1 ratio into alternative items to cut down on weight. The game in question used gems, which were essentially a fantasy equivalent of large bills or cheques. Maybe an idea? You wouldn't have to run to your stash to fetch ...

Re: Camping
I think using materials for camping was discussed somewhere else before, but considered far too much of a hassle to implement. It's one of those things that wasn't made overly complicated for ease of use, especially since it would only add to the amount of weight you're constantly lugging around. Ho...

Re: Light Armor vs. Heavy Armor
It is. It doesn't make sense. That's why they're rebalancing it for the next game. What exactly they're doing i don't know, but there you have it.

Re: Bar None
I really don't look into a game's details that much, ever. Gold bars are just coins with a little extra weight attached, which can be turned into a more convenient form at certain NPC's. That's all there is to it.

Re: Bar None
Nope. Not in the slightest. I find it far more silly that armor is way too heavy. But i heard they fixed that.

Re: Light Armor vs. Heavy Armor
Yeah, i'm quite in favor of steadily improving equipment through their average quality, based on all the properties of a single item rather than improving all properties in a linear fashion. It gives more variety. Still, i dunno what they've done for the third game. Only know that it's different.

Re: Finished as a mage. My build, my notes.
I've done the math on those spells once. Point-for-point, abyssal freeze is far more efficient that the later damage spells in terms of damage for expended mana. I'd suggest using that one if you've got a sub-par mana pool. Of course, the aforementioned DPS might be considered a more important featu...

Re: Light Armor vs. Heavy Armor
There's a problem with that system. If you need a skill late game but not early game, you'd have to go on a grindfest to catch up with it. Besides, it removes the possibility for tweaking characters, since skill levels are directly dependant on how much you put yourself at risk. Thirdly, if you're a...

Re: Balance and Rangers
Ah, that IS a point. Realistic prices from item to item is something i haven't really been wathcing. There's something to be said for game balance, of course.

Re: Balance and Rangers
In terms of throwing weapons i'd agree. Rangers, no. They work just fine. The only real requirement is gearing the rest of your build towards it, and proper resource management. I do tend to reinforce them with some magic after a while, but i really don't see this as a problem. All characters can be...

Re: Balance and Rangers
Rangers are only in trouble for as long as you're in the start of the game. Once you get your weapon feat, and therefore a guaranteed hit, arrows are never a problem. Besides, a good ranger build well have really high accuracy anyway. Arrows are only a problem in the stage of the game where you have...

Re: Magick Users & Weapons
I typically don't go for a bow with a wizard, since the mage has mostly ranged attacks anyway. It's a melee alternative that you want. Can't rely on sonic blast to make your escape all the time, after all.

Re: Suggested Spell Addition: Manipulate Weather
There are, actually. The fire magic damage penalty applies to brimstone spiders, and all ranged enemies are affected by heavy weather. Not sure if it's enough of a difference to warrant a spell though, unless there are indeed greater effects on your enemies than there are now.

Re: Small character appearance request
If I'm playing the game with no armor and/or clothes to lower encumbrance weight for the bare naked challenge, the game still shows me wearing a shirt and pants. :) I prefer that to having a naked character. Funny you should mention that. You know the basic clothes that don't give any armor v...
