This works. The downside is that you no longer see the moving red dots that indicate creatures. It's much easier to tell when your spell expires if you don't have any Cartography, because the map disappears.

Actually, it seems you can put any object into either of those slots. Books, rat meat, whatever. The left-hand slot will only accept reagents.

This is probably a dumb question, but I can't find the technical requirements for E:B II listed anywhere. I'd like to know if it will work with my OS before I download it.
