Re: Version 1.021 Readme for Mods
How do we make a new NPC with dialogues/quests, etc? Until I add official support, PM is correct- but , you could get creative and add scripts for narratives and simple NPC responses, even with simple Yes/No interaction. When I say "simple", I mean very simple , but still if you are creat...

Re: Max-out INT point for memorized spells.
You are also able to "forget" spells and make room for new ones.

Re: Eschalon: Book III Version 1.021
to force players to acquire all four Widgets to complete gogo grinding rangers! <sigh> I can tell from the appropriate sarcasm that I don't need to say it, but nobody could possibly think that that change can be construed as grinding. The thought could only come from someone who has not play...

Re: Soundfiles
Excellent! Thanks. I think sounds and gfx are easy enough to test, but preview would be cool.

Are the names of soundfiles available that are used for things like notes and Erubor's letter?

Re: Engine stuff
- similar to bonus_att, how about a bonus_skill? - an open_door to go with the existing close_door - a Wait function. Not sure why the existing delay function is called "delay," it's almost the opposite. Yeah, those are good ideas; I'll add them to the thread we've got for new actions. Fo...

Engine stuff
I'm not aware of the roadmap you guys are coming up with for engine and editor development, but here are a couple of things I wish I had now: - player_effect should work on tiles - similar to bonus_att, how about a bonus_skill? - a Wait function. Not sure why the existing delay function is called &q...

Re: Resources
xolotl's editor has official approval to decrypt the datapak in order to display graphics from the game, but as far as I know no one else does. In preparation for future modding support, btw, I am planning on adding a feature to the editing tools which will let you open a "global" map fil...

Re: Official map editor question
Right now the editor doesn't actually redistribute any game assets - it just reads what's available from the game datapak. Once Book III supports mods adding GUI elements, we'll have to figure out the best way of doing that. If I had to guess, I'd bet that we'd just end up with "graphics packs...

Re: Map and Char editors v1.0
The editor certainly doesn't intentionally hide anything, so something else must be going on... A deluge of questions follow: What version of Windows? Can you browse to those folders inside Windows Explorer? Are the missing 9 directories actually shortcuts or something? Does the "open" di...

Re: Map and Char editors v1.0
Thanks. I have the OS (WinXP) set to show everything, and everything is accessible with other tools. And the directory explore worked fine in earlier versions. Dunno

Map and Char editors v1.0
Wondering about the file manager part of the savefile editors. I have saves stored in directories I can't explore to. Neither map nor char editor shows all subdirectories when exploring to find files. Example, I can get to C:\Documents and Settings\username\ but then it doesn't show the Application ...
