Re: Wizards and Warriors

I tried all the suggested tricks, but couldn't get it to run under XP. I set up a dual boot system so I can use Win98 and the game runs fine. I have not seen any bugs and I'm having a blast. Its sort of like (Wiz7 + Wiz8)/2.

I don't think it is the slightest bit weird. The one thing that stands out about EB I, is the consistency of the design. So many RPGs these days try to please so many people that they don't do anything very well.

I hope that the slimes are in Book II. I really love the noises they make, its my favorite sound effect in the game. I find myself going out of my way to prolong combat with them just to hear them make their little noises.

I finished the game

Its been a very long time since I have felt that I was sitting at the bull's eye of the target audience for a game. Lately the best I can generally do is hope the developer is using a shotgun and sends a few pellets my way. You know the recent game where the story and dialog scored a direct hit, but...

Well I was going to tell the whole dramatic tale about breathlessly waiting for this game for years after doing a google search for TB RPG's, but it seems so anticlimactic after Aganazer's post.

I'll buy the game on monday. I followed the development for a long time and I think BW worked hard to build waht many of us expected: a good old school rpg. And I want to encourage and support this independent game developer to continue to follow this line. Perhaps Eschalon book will be better than...

I'm not worried, because I think I have a reasonable level of expectations for this game. TOEE could have been the best TB RPG ever made. It did some things better than I have ever seen. It caused me pain by giving me a glimpse of perfection then failing to deliver. If this game delivers a decent cl...

Again I am glad to hear someone on the inside talking about this. I have certainly not seen any the 3D games that live up the examples of say Fallout, PST or Jagged Alliance 2. Its a bit much to expect this quality of game the first time out from a small indie developer, but if they could stay in bu...

I'm glad to hear that some people in the business of making games still want to play games of the "old style" even though they cant risk actually making them. Word of mouth advertising by knowledgeable people could go a long way in making this game a financial success and hopefully lead to...

This is great news! It is a statement about our brave new world of modern RPG gaming that I expect to get more of what I want from this indie game than the Witcher, MotB, and FO3 combined.

Turn based all the way for me. TOEE was the best Fantasy style RPG combat engine I have ever played. For tactical combat with guns, Jagged Alliance 2 is the greatest. I don't care for real time with pause like Baldur's Gate, as I don't feel I have enough control over a whole party. I don't even try ...

If the source of the food and water is always the same and is easy to get then there is not really any point to it. If you occasionally need to go hunting in the wilds for some food and water, and the search involves some combat, bargaining, moral choices and maybe the chance to find some loot or ga...

I was thinking about this the other day as I was traveling across the wastes in Fallout yet one more time. I think the need for food and water would be a good way to generate "random encounters". When you run out of supplies you would have to stop and deal with it. Maybe you just have kill...
