BURNING SANDS LIGHTHOUSE GLITCH?

It seems there may be a glitch inside the lighthouse.
I was in the big room with the pillars. There is a lever in there. When I moved the lever, two monsters appeared (dimensional eyes), but after I had killed them, I found that the barred gates to their pens (at either side of the room) remained closed, so I couldn't explore the dungeon further. The lever could not be moved back to the original position. Thinking that perhaps the lever could only be moved again by fire (this being a lighthouse), I hit it with fireball spell. The lever didn't move, but in the dialogue box below, in red letters, the words "Script Error!" appeared.

Is that a glitch?

By the way, I'm really enjoying Eschalon Book one. I've tried NeverWinter nights, KOTOR, etc, but didn't really get into them -- too much pre-learning required. But Eschalon is just right!

Those gates do not stay open....the "sound of a gate moving" is happening elsewhere.
