Book I (and Book II) will be compatible with the new Apple OS?

Yes, though I don't know if they will work fine as-is, or if they'll need to be recompiled. We'll see once the OS is finalized.
See my ramblings and keep up with the latest news on Twitter & Facebook.

All you slow-to-the-party people. Mac User since 1990 myself. I finally gave a friend's daughter my old PowerBook 170 a few years ago, but I still have a PowerMac 6600 tucked away on a shelf. :)

Ditto - got my first Mac (an SE-30) when I was told I'd need a computer freshman year in college, and my brother was working at Apple.

Have been using one ever since! :)

(I sill have the SE-30, though I haven't fired it up in a few years...)
