Likewise, although a week seems to be their average turnaround time for these sorts of things.

Is there any chance us Lion+Steam owners could maybe get a copy of the standalone version of these games? I mean, if the standalone version is really working 100% on Lion, it would be nice to still play them in some form until this issue with Steam is resolved.

I just bought this on steam, it didn't have any warnings or notes that it would not work under Lion. I am having the same problem as everyone else. Lion + Steam + Escahlon != work.

Is there a solution in the works? I submitted a steam ticket too...

Is there any way I can get a digital copy of the games in the meantime? I have a long weekend ahead of me and was looking forward to playing these games...

I ummed and arred about buying this and now it doesn't even work! I guess I should have looked through the forums for these problems first... or bought them back when I had snow leopard...

I can provide a paypal receipt to the admin or any other proof?

Also, every other steam game I have works fine under Lion -> Civ V, TF2, Portals. Looks like it is only Eschalon with this problem.

There was a small update to the compiler we use that addresses a few Lion issues. We will be recompiling the game this weekend and running some tests.

We will probably be able to get this newly recompiled version to Steam by the first part of next week, and they'll will get it online shortly thereafter. No guarantees that this will fix everyone's problem, but it might.

FYI - Just got a response to my trouble ticket on Steam.
Hello Mathew,

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

Please follow the link below for information:

Title: Games do not run after 'Preparing to Launch'

If you have any further questions, please let us know.
I replied:
I went through all the suggested troubleshooting steps before I ever posted this ticket. This failure is related to the upgrade to Lion, and has nothing to do with the game cache, steam updates, other programs running, etc. It's very dissapointing that you took a week to post a form response.

Well for good or bad, I was pretty detailed in my steam ticket. I added the Console dump, even directed them to this thread to see its not just a one-off occurrence.

Hopefully there is something they can do on their end too...

Sorry, still looking in to this. We've done some updates with the games, but now waiting on some feedback from Steam technicians.

Hopefully we'll have an update soon. Thanks very much for everyone's patience!!

Hello All

I realize that I'm a little late to this party, and that BasiliskWrangler is working on the issue, but I also am having the exact same issues with both Book 1 and Book 2. Neither will start since I have upgraded to Lion (other Steam games, such as Civ IV do), and they give error output that look a lot like what has already been posted (I can post here if it will help). Thanks so much!

Sorry for not updating everyone on this issue. We are working on another possible fix now, and then some more testing. We really do hope to have this resolved soon.

Awesome!

I finished book 1! Loved it so much. Put about 24 hours into it of play time. Tried to complete everything. I assume the add-on that was once planned for book 1 was scrapped? The one that ties into the boat in the back of the lighthouse in crakamir?

I have started book 2 now... can save files be transferred from the normal version to the steam version of each game without any dramas?

I like to have all my games in steam and neatly organized. Is there steam cloud support for the saves?

Can't get over how excellent book 1 was, and the improvements of book 2 are huge. Really looking forward to putting some hours into it.

I have recommended the game to a few friends, heres hoping it generates some more sales to fund book 3.

I have been anxiously waiting for a Steam update but there has been none.

I really want to play more of this game! I downloaded both Books when Steam had them on sale, then I upgraded to Lion shortly after and then *poof*...no more playing Eschalon. :x

Is there a status update on a patch getting rolled out?

Soon. Since this issue involves both Book 1 and 2, it's taking twice the time to get the problem fixed, tested and uploaded to Steam for approval. And this problem has nothing to do with the code in our game, but rather it's a glitch between the language/compiler we used, Steam and Lion. Mostly we've been waiting for other people to get back with us.

Thanks for understanding, everyone!! Hopefully just another week.
