Rolling screen flicker on Lenovo G530 using Ubuntu: solved

Screen flicker solution: System -> Preferences -> Appearance; Select Visual Effects Tab, click "None". Problem solved.


Hi,

I downloaded 1.05 demo of book 1, unzipped in my home directory, and started the app. I get a kind of rolling screen flicker, like the system and the game are competing for refresh rates. Running the game from the shell prompt doesn't result in any error output.

This problem occurs on every screen and in both windowed and full-screen modes. I am using Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit on a Lenovo G530. Ideas?

Just a quick 0,02€ can you try to disable fancy desktop option like shadowing, etc
should be in appearance > visual effect. Try running with none.
