!!Kernel Information
!!------------------

Kernel release: 2.6.27.37-0.1-default
Operating System: GNU/Linux
Architecture: x86_64
Processor: x86_64
SMP Enabled: Yes

I tried putting different versions of alsa and changing some codecs but no dice. The script for the alsa info gave me a mess of info which i don't understand but here is the link to that.

I will keep on trying to fix this on my own somehow

I fixed it!. I was reading the boards after doing all these test on the sound. After playing with the config file settings and putting sound to 0, it gave me the same error without saying it was loading sound. I started to suspect it was my video drivers. I loaded the latest nvidia drivers and presto, it worked. Sorry for wasting everybody's time on the board.

Not at all! I've been following your thread but I just didn't have any advice for you at this point. I am glad you got it figured out.
