Repair skill / Rules to have equipment deteriorate

Is the repair of any use if you don't plan to play with weapons/armor naturally deteriorating?

If your weapons and armor do not deteriorate there is nothing to repair.

Well, there is one item I discovered needed repair if you didn't have alchemy or want to pay for oil and wicks...lanterns! If you have 1 level of repair, some how or other you find enough plant oils to fill it up when you camp.
