Where are merchants with money?

I found an axe worth 7500 gold that I could sell for 3750, but there isn't a single merchant with more than 2000 in their inventory to buy it from me? Surely there is a merchant some place to sell this to.

I think Durmore in the Norland might just have enough otherwise you are forced to wait to Picaroon Island for the highest merchant.

Another trick is to buy some things to give the merchant enough money to buy the expensive item from you. Items that are in poor condition that you can repair and resell later so you don't lose money or may need.
