It Was purchased as being a collectors item without the intension of ever building it but after getting it in my hands I'm really itching to put the sucker together so should I open it and build it or keep it as it is.

I say: build it. Even though it is a collector's item, it probably won't be of real value in your lifetime, so enjoy it now! Build it then suspend it above your computer area with fishing line.

Although I love legos, I really want one of these Star Destroyers with fiber optic lights.

Anyways, if you do decide to put it together, please share the experience with us. I'd like to see pictures of the process! I've never made a lego model of such magnitude!
See my ramblings and keep up with the latest news on Twitter & Facebook.

I say build it too. AND, keep the box, instructions and other stuff in acid proof bag/box to have for the future. If you have a collectable it is more likely to sell and sell well if you have the original box and contents.

Well didn't take long to decide so my son and myself will be starting to build it soonish - that model looks awsome with all the fiber optic through it
