This guy apparently thinks his is. He has to keep justifying it to himself too... he even added "It's a Honda" and "Classic Beauty" to his title. He goes on to state that the book value is to low - according to him, of course.

I've seen a string of vehicles around this area that people think are worth far more than actuality. One guy was selling his car for more than 2x book values. "It's what I have in it." Right, that's totally going to make it worth it for the prospective buyer.

Heh, at least he's not trying to sell a Hummer.

I think most people don't even know about book values. I think most don't know that if you find out the base value of a car then you can go to a dealership and work from the book price up, instead of the dealership price down, and sometimes even get it for the book price.

As for buying from individuals... different principle. Here it's a game of who's more determined, or who can bluff better.

It's what someone is willing to pay for it. A car's book value is based upon what equivalent cars sell at in the retail market. Now what I would have to pay to replace my current car with one that could do the same things is higher than it''s book value. That's why I'm not selling it even though the costs for repairing it exceeded it's book value, it was still cheaper than buying a used one that would do the same things.

I had a friend that bought cars for less than $100 and then abandoned then when they broke.
