There's a good chance I'll pick up Deus Ex: Human Revolution next Friday....

But I'm also looking at this other cyberpunk RPG/FPS called E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy that offers up to 4 player co-op!

But.... at the top of this ambitious list, and the shooter I'm most excited about right now is Rage.

Re: Some Shooters that I'm looking forward to
I'm fairly tired of these burned-out, post apocalyptic, cyberpunkish environments that most of these shooters have. But, we're talking AAA developers here and they don't stray far from known successful formulas.
But yes, Rage is a "must get", if for no other reason than id Software sill makes quality old-school shooters.

Well I prefer these cyberpunk/apoco games to the equally tired Battlefield Recon: Modern Combat Warfare genre.
At least E.Y.E. is a indie venture that offers some really complex looking gameplay. Firingsquad has a good writeup on the game. And since it's a Source engine game, it shouldn't be terribly punishing on hardware.
I agree on Rage's shoo-in status; after seeing a good chunk of gameplay vids and watching Carmack's Quakecon speech (over an hour of mostly over-my-head jargon), I have mostly high hopes for the game's enjoyment factor. The only thing that turned me off was the lack of a health system. The "get-to-cover-so-you-can-regen-in-10-seconds" system is just too damn cheesy. That's one thing that has me excited about Hard Reset. That and Serious Sam 3 are actually more true to the old-school shooter than anything else.

And this time they are straying somewhat away from their usual stuff. There seem to be quite side quests and a rpg component quite unusual for Id Software.BasiliskWrangler wrote: But yes, Rage is a "must get", if for no other reason than id Software sill makes quality old-school shooters.

Rage looked Borderlands inspired for sure, but different as well. I hadnt even heard abut that one before, looks like one to keep an eye on.
Borderlands 2 is a must get for me.
Deus Ex will be a must get after price drop for me. Loved the original, the second was good for a bit then lost its luster.

The armies joined in a bloody battle on this fine day, then storm clouds broke, and it rained.

Keep in mind Rage has been in development for about 6 years... and was announced before Borderlands. While the style might be a bit similar, they're two funamendtally different games.
- While Rage is set in a post apocalyptic Earth, Borderlands takes place on a remote planet colonized by miners.
- Borderlands is more item collection/RPGish, where Rage looks to be more Shooter.
- Rage is more Single-Player focused, where Borderlands was designed as a Co-Op game
- Rage looks to have a lot more storyline to it as well.

Rage and Borderlands 2 are looking good to me. I just picked up Section 8 Prejudice, and it seems fun so far (3rd person shooter) - got it on the cheap from Steam yesterday during the midweek madness sale. I just started up playing Borderlands again and am remembering why I enjoy it so much. Especially now that my soldier has a decent combat rifle...they do so much more damage than even my high-end SMG
